What Are You? Him Or Her?

I know my testosterone is low due to my cancer meds, but this..........OMG

One of the most important issues in male health is testosterone. Fact is that your testosterone drops after the age of 30. By the age of 40 the levels plummet by 1% or more per year.

Your energy levels drop, mental acuity drops, libido drops, your sexual function drops, it gets increasingly more difficult to produce muscle and fat naturally starts to accumulate around your middle.

But wait there’s more.

As a man ages his testosterone decreases and his estrogen increases, in part due to the conversion of testosterone into estrogen.

In one recent study it found that estrogen levels in an average 54 year old man are higher than those of an average 59 year old woman.

To make you feel even better, this low level of testosterone compounds itself. It is more likely that you will be fat. Studies also show that fat cells generate the aromatase enzyme that converts testosterone into estrogen. We get the opposite of what we want, decreased testosterone and increased estrogen.

Are YOU a femme yet?..........

Hmm..thats pretty interesting.

Wonder if that is why women usually have an increased sex drive when older (dropping estrogen rates = higher testosterone/libido?)

Wonder if thats is why men get more 'homey' and are less likely to want to play the field when they get older. They might also empathise with women more?

Zpete, I didnt know you were on cancer meds. A good friend of mine is also, he spoke of hot flushes and feeling far more emotional than before. One thing he told me about recently was the affects of keeping your body alkaline. Actually, instead of pming you/posting here, i will make a thread in the health forum..and link you. In case you didnt know about the possible benefits of it. I wish you well in your treatment. (Link: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Cancer-Elimi...on-t273337.html )

Thanks Eek.

Was thinking after reading the article

THAT must be why most wimmim once they are 50 odd + seem to grow moustaches.

...moustaches.. ...I had a great Aunt that even had a small beardie going on! I have NO idea why she just let those hairs grow. :)

As a kiddy, I dreaded the end of a family visit.

"Ok, now kiss Auntie Rosie bye bye"

:D

Pete, shame on you printing that bit of so-called scientific claptrap. I know someone very close to that age :) and he insists it's all <deleted>!

Just get some stuff at boots they got testostorone caps.

Of go to a doctor for hormone replacement.

Lower testosterone levels are also associated with Alzheimers disease. Unfortunately, and as per another thread (health forum I think?) testosterone supplements can be like pouring petrol on the fire of prostate cancer - also common in older men. So sometimes damned if you do and damned if you don't. I guess you would need to look at family medical history and then jump one way or the other

If that is true about less testosterone then why am I having extensive hair growth where there use to be none??? ears , nose (need to rim my nose hairs weekly) etc.

That's true. I was always a hairless Celt, turned 35 and nasal hair needs trimming, turned 40 and earhair needs trimming. What's next? :):D

Its true about the testostorone, you can ask any doctor. Im not sure how much of it is true about prostate cancer. Maybe with long use.

"Nurse, pass me the anal probe".

"Erm, nurse.....is that nail varnish on the end of the probe"? "Hmm, yes, maybe it won't be so stressful" "Gawd" "Blond doesn't suit you by the way".

Regards.

(I suspect this may be an excerpt from chapter 1 of Pauline Hanson's book, 'Please Explain'. BTW, please don't explain...)

I don't think we need to hear any more... :)
