Here you go, hostility for moving a post to the right forum. Amazing.

moving this out of the golf forum and into the football forum

Who cares where it is...don't you senior forum operators have anything better to do or have a job? It is not that important...life goes on. So it is in the wrong forum. Annoying.

Well, this is a first. Do something helpful and get criticized for it. Amazing.

Hmm...not a first though!

..You probably knocked his fragile ego by having him realise that he posted in the wrong section. So, dummy spitting time. :)

He wasn't the OP eek. :)

Beware of the " Treatment" EndofDays...possibly a suitably apt Nic in this case........ :D

Hmmmm........

That's a good question Naam.

Let me think about it for awhile.

Ok, I'm done.

They probably hope that by separating sentences it will place more emphasis on each individual thought. It is hoped that it will be more universally understood, even by those who just fell off the short bus.

That's my guess anyway. :D

It's a reference to how there are big school buses for transporting the masses to school, and smaller "short" buses for taking a select few to the "special" schools. Hence the description of someone a bit slow to have "come off the short bus"

We use the same term in Australia - maybe an excolonial thing :)

I did notice that and had a quiet chuckle.

Moss and I have never met but will meet, God Willing, in the future. :D

ps But I'm still a real person! :)

I have never met Moss either...but he has met one of my sons

Indeed I have

That was a close thing - I misread Moss' post and for some reason thought he was saying he had heard of the term "short bus" as written by CDNVIC, I had earlier replied that I knew the term and wondered if it was an excolonial term. In my reply to moss (now deleted) I had quoted his "Indeed I have" and wrote - "yes proves that it is a colonial thing with Ireland being an English colony of sorts" I was then going to go into hiding for several centuries and hope it all was forgotten if not forgiven

Good thing I reread it because it could have led to some forum hostility

:)

Two millennia, you are having a laugh, a war of attrition has been going on for nine already, you will need to up your game I would suggest :)

In that case I am pleased that I didin't write it - even in jest. Lest you and Tiggs should be offended.

(I really wish I had that tongue in cheek emoticon)

Confession time. I am probably the only American you will ever meet who is not Irish American :)

I used to laugh at my brother-in-law who is Irish-American yet his family has been in the US since the second French and Indian War. Well, turns out his is the first generation to marry non-Irish people. Wow. Guess that does really make him Irish-American.

My mother's family was the same, came over to the US from Scotland about 15 years after the Mayflower but married only first or second generation Scots until my mother married my father.

Nearly everyone has an irish passport! :D

Even me :D

Is that to use when you have to visit countries who don't particularly like the British?

Like Zimbabwe, Iran and Australia?

:)

But Australians are just watered down Brits, aren't they :D

I actually got it cos it makes it easier for my Mrs. Free EU Family permit etc.

But interestingly, I think I read somewhere that an Irish Passport is one of the safest passports to travel around with. New Zealand passport was another one.

BJ, by safe you mean nobody wants to steal them? Understandable I guess - especially the Kiwi one. :D

No james. By safe, i mean the amount of people killed worlwide every year pro rata, holding Irish passports as opposed to say American, British, Canadian :D etc

I think it could be because the average non-Irish world citizen can't really understand what the Irish are saying. Still, mostly their voices go up and down in funny, amicable cadences (the melody of some Irish dialects even sound vaguely reminiscent of us northern Scandos), so it is assumed they are friendly people who mean no harm... until they sucker-punch you in the gonads, that is.

Irish 'friendly'? I seem to recall a doco not all that long ago about all the Irish bovva boys and standover men running the towns. Perhaps the doco was overly sensationalist?

I like the Irish - any race that invented Whiskey is a friend of mine

CB

Seems I've been pinged - a tad too obvious, perhaps?
