Thai's tend to go for cakes you can find at super markets or especially S&P. For some very fancy ones, check the top floor of Emporium. Several very impressive displays, especially Boats Bakery.

Speaking of cakes, I have witnessed a strange ritual several times in Thailand (Isaan folks) as well as in Laos. As each person accepts their piece of cake, they dab just a little bit of frosting on the face of the person who is celebrating their birthday. It is done politely, often with a "kaw thot" (excuse me) before applying it.

Emporium is almost directly opposite Novotel, just come out of the soi, cross the road and walk left.

Not sure what you mean by 'dogs bakery' a bakery that caters for dogs, or is that the name of the bakery? :o

Either way never heard of one or it!

There are several Novotels in Bkk.

The Novotel Lotus on Sukhumvit soi 33 is indeed quite close to the Emporium.

Novotel baked goods are featured in several supermarkets around town as well.

You might not even have to leave the hotel.

Like S&P, they tend to look better than they taste.

Don't know nothin' 'bout no boats 'n dogs.
