Ex-pm, now disgraced fugitive Thaksin is facing prison time back in Thailand. However, he has not faced trial for all the charges against him. If YOU could decide, how many years in prison, if any, do you think he deserves?

How many years do the whole rotten lot of them deserve?

For a start, how many years do the police force alone deserve for their 'contribution' to Thai society on all levels?

Thaksin is just one figure prominent in a drama riddled with a culture of corruption.

20 years, along with every other corrupt politician in the world.....wouldn't leave many in power would it?

let's put it this way.

If I do the same as what people say he's done, how many years shall I spend in jail? This answer should then be the same for him. But, will it be?

I am no judge, and I don't know enough of the case!

None.

None

None

Conversely, he needs to be back in charge. It was the first time in Thai history that the people of Isaan believed that the government finally tried to relieve their "non-person" status as a segment of Thai society.

I think his actions in leading the failed black Songkran revolution are rather serious, in fact, in most countries they would be labeled with the T word ...

I don't accept that he is just another corrupt politician. That's a cop out.

It is true he used Isaan to gain power and that is his base of current support. The region has legitimate grievances but on the other hand, it is not the entire country either.

Well, the nones are currently leading your poll.

False. At the current moment, those voting 10 years or more prison time lead over the nones, 9 to 8. Of course this is early in the polling.

Like any other corrupt politician, he deserves to face justice for his crimes. But like most other corrupt politicians, he probably won't. That of course doesn't mean he shouldn't.

Those who think he should get off scot free just because others have, have got it all back to front.

Yeah see what you mean, although the biggest SINGLE option is for none!

He should serve the time imposed by the court , if they increase the time after finding him guilty of the other crimes against him then he should serve that time on top of what has been handed out already.

As previous posts say , pity all the corrupt ones around the world cant be locked up as well.

What a world we are in now !!

Of the choices offered in the poll, multiple life sentences, at least one for every one of the near 3000 people murdered without trial during his 'war on drugs'. But deserves more than that.

Why is Thaksin so bad? Sure he was corrupt but aren't they all? At least he threw a few scraps to the poor (30 baht health care)

Agreed. But they believed wrong. He just needed their votes. All they got was a free phone and a bit of cash, which, I admit, was more than they ever got from any government. If they stick by him, there'll be many, many years of more hardship but they probably don't care. They're used to it and their daughters send them lots of money anyway.

Don't think he'll be back soon, if ever but he's not going to give up either. He can sing as many ballads as he likes to.

Can't he solve the traffic problem in Bkk from his hide-out?
