New Update Released For Adobe Acrobat Reader V7.0

Featured Replies

For info:

Adobe® has released a new update (v7.01) to the English version of their Acrobat Reader® v7.0.

The Adobe Reader v7.0.1 update addresses several known issues in Adobe Reader v7.0 software.

This update can be applied only to the English version of Adobe Reader v7.0. Support for other languages of Adobe Reader v7.0 will be provided at a later date.

Adobe recommends that all users of Adobe Reader v7.0 apply this update as a proactive measure.

This update provides improved security and support for hyperlinks to PDF files in Microsoft Office documents. It also addresses known issues associated with form workflows and 2D barcodes. This update also addresses issues associated with viewing PDF files that contain 3D content generated in 3D CAD or modeling programs.

Hi Waldwolf, while you're active on the forum, I was wondering if you knew of a converter utility that will convert a post script file - initial part extracted below - to something more useful (PDF or Word)?

%!PS-Adobe-3.0

%%Creator: Windows PSCRIPT

%%Title: Microsoft Word ÀÒÉÒä·Â - TE...

%%BoundingBox: 18 23 577 819

%%DocumentNeededResources: (atend)

%%DocumentSuppliedResources: (atend)

%%Pages: (atend)

%%BeginResource: procset Win35Dict 3 1

/Win35Dict 290 dict def Win35Dict begin/bd{bind def}bind def/in{72

mul}bd/ed{exch def}bd/ld{load def}bd/tr/translate ld/gs/gsave ld/gr

/grestore ld/M/moveto ld/L/lineto ld/rmt/rmoveto ld/rlt/rlineto ld

/rct/rcurveto ld/st/stroke ld/n/newpath ld/sm/setmatrix ld/cm/currentmatrix

I haven't started to look on the web yet, but just thought I'd ask :o

I don't know if this is helpful or not, but Acrobat Distiller happily grinds through ps and spits out PDF files.

RDN - I haven't done this in a long time, and I can't remember the name of the little utility I once used. Believe it was PS2PDF, or something like that. Not sure.

Anyways, the most popular (talked about) appears to be Ghostscript here. (Believe it's free to non-commercial users.)

If you only have a small number of files to convert, check this free online conversion service, PS2PDF here.

You'll also find a short tutoral here.

have fun :D

Thanks - I've just got Ghostscript and am trying to work out how to use it!

The PS2PDF site came up with an error "The file does not appear to be a PS file" - so I'll concentrate my "fun" on Ghostscript :o

If anyone wants a great alternative to Adobe :o then you should try the freeware FoxIt PDF Reader.

It's much, much faster for most users who just want to be able to read PDF files. :D

OK - just got it. It's certainly quicker than Adobe - quicker to load and quicker scroll up and down a document. I'll give it a good workout with a PDF about Thai characters that I've just got :D
