Madame Tussuads Bangkok opens in 2010

BANGKOK: -- Merlin Entertainments has partnered with Siam Piwat to bring the US$15 million (Bt500 million) Madame Tussauds wax museum to Thailand. Slated for opening at Siam Discovery in September 2010, it is the company's tenth Madame Tussauds worldwide, and the third to open in Asia after the successful opening in Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Merlin Entertainments Midway Managing Director Glenn Earlam said "We are delighted to be opening a Madame Tussauds in Bangkok... It will be a unique attraction, in a unique City. We are particularly delighted to be working with the team at Siam Piwat, the owners of Siam Discovery, who have done so much to make this project a reality. Their plans for the redevelopment of the Siam Discovery are very exciting and we are proud to be a part of it. This is a super prime location in one of the leading shopping centres and busiest and most important malls in Bangkok. I have no doubt the attraction will be hugely successful. '

Madame Tussauds Bangkok is destined to be the "must do" attraction for all visitors. Madame Tussauds is looking to work closely with Bangkok tourist and leisure organisations to promote the opening, and to ensure that in the future the attraction plays a key role in encouraging visitors both from overseas, and from other parts of Thailand and the region, to the City. The original wax attraction, Madame Tussauds' world class wax figures will also be at the centre of a planned major redevelopment of the Siam Discovery and surrounding area.

I wonder if they will have double pricing like the waxy museum in Pattaya ...

If the one in Hong Kong is anything to go by the Farrang characters will all look the same - 'is that Brad Pitt or David Beckham'

Different ownership to the one in Pattaya

Yes, of course. But the Australian owned aquarium at the Paragon mall uses double pricing, so don't assume the Bangkok wax museum won't follow this insidious local custom.

Maybe we will see that Famous politician Taksin S or what ever he now calls himself in the Dungeon or the chamber of horrors

in London it's mainly foreign tourists, most of them kids/youngsters, in thailand it will have to be priced nicely to attract rather locals than foreigners.

cool! I wonder whose wax figures will be in there...will it be strictly Western?
