Thai cable tv scam

Here it is:

The CABLE SCAM

BE WARNED.  How does it work?  There are ‘people’, with no name, working throughout all the provinces, (with a mobile phone?) that will tell you that for a price, usually 19,900 Baht - or more (installation fees ?), they will install a cable system that will give you 50 plus channels.

They do not tell you that the cable signal is being ‘stolen’ from the Dream Networks (Philippines) satellite system.  And that you will have a great signal for about 7 days and then you will be off the air for anywhere from 4 to 14 days until they can get a new decoder card from (?), and then the whole cycle repeats itself.  Oh, but they guarantee the service for a full year!

If you believe that you need to be scammed - like I was.  After about 2 or 3 trips to your home to install another ‘boot-legged’ decoder cable card, you will never see them again.  And you now own a satellite dish and box that is totally useless.  That’s one scam!

The other one is run by a ‘new’ startup company. This outfit will provide over 200 channels of viewing pleasure, except that all the channels with the exception of 3-6 are in a language you would never understand.

Again it will only cost you 19,900 Baht for the ‘big’ motorized satellite dish, box and card.  Once again you get a ‘full-year guarantee’!

Be forewarned!

A friend

these people are suck-ass big time, ameture, i use to decode

satellite cable back in the state, built my own box and dish, put the dish on my roof, wola! i got 250 channel world wide free of charge, and its all legal, they came to my house to check up on me, i told them wat i do wrong, they told me i stealing signal, i told them what you mean i steal (air) you see any line sticking outta my house, i told them i put a dish on top of my house to catch anything going my way, so ######-off, before i take their lame-ass to court, and that would look really silly for charging me to steal (air), and they never came back lol

decoding the card is not that hard, all you need is a PC

So the scam is that there are people out there who are stealing cable television service and who in turn are being scammed?

:o
