GungaDin Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 My gate has no motor or remote. How do I get it converted? Size of motor needed? It's a wrought iron gate, quite heavy, but moves ok on it's old roller wheels...... manually! Access to power not a problem. Anyone done a conversion? Suggestions? cheers, gd
metisdead Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 We had our front gate and fence replaced about 6-7 years ago, and at the same time had the electric gate opener installed. The gate company did it all. Works great. Our gate opener was sourced by the gate people from highproject1990.com. Perhaps stop in some ornamental gate shops nearby and ask them if they can do a conversion/installation for you.
metisdead Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Went to their website, they have different models depending on the weight of your gate, I do not know if this company does the installation though, maybe this will help in a way: http://www.hp1990.com/wizContent.asp?wizCo...p;txtmMenu_ID=7
GungaDin Posted December 23, 2009 Author Posted December 23, 2009 Many thanks. I saw yr link earlier and that page. Wondering how to weigh the 20 year old gate........
Forkinhades Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Once you find a shop, I am sure they will give you a free quote. Had mine 7 years also, I have had 4 new remotes, now only 1 works, but you can get a new set and receiver
GungaDin Posted January 2, 2010 Author Posted January 2, 2010 ^^^^ Did you buy the complete unit , gate & motor, or did you add a motor at a later date? Thanks for responding.
Forkinhades Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 The original install came complete with 3 remotes
bkkbill Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 There are many auto gate installers around we had ours installed on a 10 year old sliding gate 4 years ago with two remotes. Both still working just changed batteries. It did all stop one day but turning the power off then back on solved that. I think any who sell the openers will install them.
Forkinhades Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 anyone know of a shop in Patters that does the remotes I need a couple
GungaDin Posted January 3, 2010 Author Posted January 3, 2010 Hi Bill, can you recall how much the conversion cost? My steel gate is abt 20 yrs old but runs smoothly.(by hand)
