Iranian Drowns In The Waters Off Jomtien Beach

Featured Replies

Just after 9.30 on Tuesday Morning, Police Lieutenant Colonel Anuchaert from Dongtan Police Sub-Station located on Jomtien Beach was called to Jomtien Beach close to the Police Box located at the Soi Chayapreuk intersection following reports of a foreign man who had drowned. The body was discovered by the 17 year old girlfriend of the victim, who was identified as Mr. Shafbazi Yegaireh Afshin aged 32 from Iran. The girlfriend explained that around 5am, the victim was heavily intoxicated and informed his girlfriend that he wanted to go for a swim. He entered the water and the girl fell asleep. She woke up at around 8.30 and could not find Mr. Afshin until she looked at the water where she spotted the body of Mr. Afshin floating face-down in the water. A sea Rescue Boat was called and brought the body to the shore. Police will wait for the results of a post mortem examination to ensure that the man did in fact die as a result of drowning, before they close the case.
