Thai Government Hospitals

Featured Replies

Can Anyone recommend a good govt. Hospital need to save cash. I am having a problem with urinating to much and would like to try a Govt. Hospital. I go to Bumrungrad monthly for medicine the controlled kind so have no choice. If anyone has had an experience let me know thanks in advance???

Assuming he's not it would depend where you stayed in Bangkok I guess, but somewhere central'ish I can recommend would be Sirirat Hospital right on the Chao Phraya, you can take the boat there from Saphan Taksin BTS, I have been there before and the doctors spoke very good english and the registration forms they had in both Thai and English

Also Chulalongkorn Hospital, a hop and step from BTS Saladaeng. Like Siriraj most doctors speak good English (many have side job at Bumrungrad) but I don't remember seeing English registration form or any sign in English.

I have my Thai wife to go with me if that helps. What are the basic charges at these hospitals anyway?? thanks

Sorry, but I go there under the coverage of universal health care, so no charge. If I have to pay I go to Bumrungrad. It's a good idea to go Chula with your Thai wife. And you should go early in the morning or else there's a long wait in the queue just for registration and doctors seem to see outpatients only in the morning (at least my department - endocrinology is concerned). It's often the case if you have to do blood test you have to come back to the hospital on another day to hear the result.

Chula, good hospital with knowledgeable doctors. Only drawback is the waiting times. Saying that though, I am sure that there are many government hospitals that would give you good treatment for that problem. Many Thais experience the same thing of course.

If you choose Chula, then it's a very good advice to be there very early. If you know where to go, be there at 6 AM.

Mahidol University's Siriraj Hospital and Ramathibodi are both good - but as people have suggested, they are crowded, and getting early is advisable. Might also suggest some of the less centralized private hospitals, which are good but could save you some money as well. Phya Thai 1, 2 or 3, Any of the Kasemrad hospitals, Chao Phrya Hospital, etc. Good luck
