Good Bicycle Shop In Pattaya?

I'm looking for a on road / off road style bike. We call them "mountain bikes" back in the states, not sure about the rest of the world.

Went to a shop with some good bikes on Teppisit but the wanke_r would not even let me sit on one of the bikes, he said if anything happened to it, he would not be able to sell it. Typical Thailand BS, so since I could not even sit on the bike to see if it felt good, I left, and here I am.

Anyone know of a good shop where they let you actually get on the bike before you buy it?

But there is another shop on the corner of Sukhumvit and Soi Chayapornviti (Soi Crocodile Farm) which is located near the junction which leads to Banglamung Hospital.

The bike shop (well at least it looks like a bike shop) is on the East side of Sukhumvit, so from Pattaya, you have to make a U-turn, 1 km down the road.

On Road off road bikes are Hybreds but never mind you want a Mountain Bike with 26' wheels right? The shop that farangpattaya is referring to is called Numchai it is in Naklua by the overpass over Sukhumvit by the Crocodile farm road turning.

The owners name is Phon, he is a proper off roader himself so he knows how to size a bike for fit and comfort.

I have a 19" Santa Cruz Heckler that I don't ride anymore if you want a proper off road full suspension machine you can PM me if you are interested at all.

You will not go wrong by going to SV Bike Pattaya, the lady there has two sons who are competition mountain bike riders around Asia, she has many quality bikes including TREK, Cat-Eye, Klein, Dahon, Santa Cruz, etc. She speaks excellent english and knows all about bikes.

Naturally you cannot test the bike before purchase, but you can sit on them! (Who will buy a bike that looks used?)

She also is very good at repairs using original parts in the main.

The OP obviously picked a wrong one, but I can also endorse SV Bike.

There's 2 bike shops I konw on Thepprasit, either side of the dog hotel.

I think one is called LA Bikes.

I have a mountain bike bought at one of the supermarkets a few years ao and its fine .Cost around B3,000 .It has suspension on front and Shimino ( sp ?) gears .Granted their cheaper bikes are crap .

Have seen groups of cyclists on the dark side all decked out in cycling gear, probably members of a cycling club. Anyone got any hints of best places for cycling in the area i.e. where you won't be killed. What are the prices like for a decent carbon fiber hybrid in those stores mentioned?

Cycling here is probably safer than Europe/US as drivers are aware of slow moving traffic on the shoulders. Most roads have wide shoulders as well. Best time is when there is sunlight. Best place is on the shoulder of just about any road, including Suk. Not sure there is such a thing as a decent hybrid...

Nakua is too far from me as I will have to walk I will go to theprasit still cant find the dam address anywhere - theprasit is a very long road Id be coming of soi korpai: is it down the road or up the road from there (near techno school) i know.

if it is down near the jomtien end i ll be so tired walking I wont be able cycle back.

there are more than one bicycle shops on thepprasit. I brought mine at the one at soi 8 on the corner [directly across from the honda dealer] great bike, friendly lady owner, and lifetime free service. never had a problem yet

Alright thanks for that I ended up buying a bmx from SV for 6000 baht with helmet, lock and flashing lights, and those extensions at the axel you can stand on or double people with. Pattaya has suddenly become much smaller although I have gained a bit more paranoia about where I can go and park my bike while I go inside and eat or whatever.

Funny thing was I was just about to ride off on my new bike and the dood did the back tyre a bit more and exploded it - almost burst my ear drum it was so loud. He promptly fixed it and off I went.

Supposedly it is free to go back and get the bike tuned up again...

The best one in my opinion in terms of service and range available is CH. NUMCHAI, which was mentioned in one of the posts above. It might not be a big shop, just 2 shophouses, but they've got a good range and will make sure you get the right size frame etc. Prices are cheaper than the one mentioned on Thepprasit too, which is nice!

Central Pattaya road about soi 10. Good bike shop run by an older couple who do the work together and/or with their son. Friendly and competent.

Numchai is a full service bike shop, he also does a lot for local biking, he organizes events and weekly takes customers on leisure rides.

I would recommend Numchai on Naklua. If SV is where I think it is, the lady needs to learn some manners..... I wouldnt touch the place. LA bike across the road is OK too.

My bikes been in Numchai in Naklua for 2 weeks waiting for the front tyre to be replaced and a check over.After one week i went to pick it up.The un polite young lady in there said. Not ready yet,i call you when ready.
