What Do You Think Of Obama Now?

Featured Replies

Well it's your thread General.... What Do You Think Of Obama Now?

So? What Do You Think Of Obama Now?

In the light of the news about him meeting the Dali Lama?

Any time you have another "cleverness" problem don't hesitate to let me know... a pity some of your fellow conservatives don't seek my help with this on a more regular basis. :)

What do you think of BO now after watching this? Here is a prime example of his dishonesty.

Sorry VL, I've found the best way to piss you guys off is to ignore your links. :)

While UG does have some conservative views, I wouldn't call him one. His opinions don't follow any party lines that I'm aware of. In fact, from what I've seen he's a fan of Obama.

I know Vic, but I don't let that stop me rattling his cage occasionally. :)

Speaking of Obama, what's the forum consensus on him p!ssing off China by meeting with the Dali Lama?

Please see post number 3 on this thread. Thank you very big.

Ogden Nash.....

A one L lama, he's a priest.

A two L llama, he's a beast.

I will bet my silk pyjama,

There isn't any three L lama.

(Also from Ogden Nash.... "People who live in glass houses, should pull down the blinds, before removing their trousers.")

Mr Spelling-Police-Of-The-Limited-Vocabulary, (or do you prefer to be called "Mr Shameless Liar"?), is the motive for referring to post number 3 on this thread to highlight your spelling mistake in that post? Is this a test?

So should I call my idea for a new TV children's show Llamas in Pyjamas or Lamas in Pyjamas?

That depends on if you are using priests or beasts.

Personally, I think the 4-legged, two-L'ed creatures would be a hit in western countries.....but perhaps the 2-legged, one-L'ed variety would be popular in S.E Asia.

Great idea BTW....beats bananas, hands down. (pun intended).

No need to apologize to me if you wish to keep yourself in the dark. It certainly doesn't 'piss me off.'

BTW, if you mean republicans by 'you guys', I do not agree with much of the republican agenda. Why is it automatically assumed by many that if one does not agree with BO, one must be a republican? If I were to be categorized, I'm closer to being a libertarian.

Heck, if his own party was on-side with him he wouldn't have had this much trouble passing legislation. The Republicans are the least of Obama's worries.

Interesting choice, I have a few libertarian bones myself.

We'll have to meet up in Chiang Mai one day and have a coffee with that other die hard libertarian and book vendor we both know and love. :)

Edit: Youtube is like blogs, it's all done with opinion, smoke and mirrors... (and camera angles) :D

Meeting is fine by me. I just came back from spending the evening with said book vendor.

If you should decide to break with tradition and view the subject Youtube video you'll notice that all of the words came straight from the horses mouth - uncensored. No smoke and mirrors.

This is the best thing about You Tube.....

I rarely watch TV but many times there are good interviews of various Politicians or Congress on CNN etc.

So it is nice that these interviews are re-broadcast on You Tube.

We spent the evening in the company of a somewhat drunken, wildly liberal restaurateur discussing all and sundry without any arguments at all. thumbsup.gif

I'll have to see what I can do about that! :)

Personally I seldom discuss politics or religion in company, I live in Thailand, which is a far more interesting topic of conversation!

I certainly agree.

First, tens of thousands of more troops to Afghanistan and now this. Other than the darker skin and bigger ears, this guy is becoming more and more like Bush all the time.

Obama signs one-year extension of Patriot Act

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama has signed a one-year extension of several provisions in the nation's main counterterrorism law, the Patriot Act.

Provisions in the measure would have expired on Sunday without Obama's signature Saturday.

The act, which was adopted in the weeks after the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks, expands the government's ability to monitor Americans in the name of national security.

Three sections of the Patriot Act that stay in force will:

_Authorize court-approved roving wiretaps that permit surveillance on multiple phones.

_Allow court-approved seizure of records and property in anti-terrorism operations.

_Permit surveillance against a so-called lone wolf, a non-U.S. citizen engaged in terrorism who may not be part of a recognized terrorist group.

Obama's signature comes after the House voted 315 to 97 Thursday to extend the measure.

Obama signs one-year extension of Patriot Act

I would agree it is pretty hard to tell them or others apart.

This signing of the extension is just part of it.

As far as I know we ..The USA are still under a declared state of emergency.

Would be nice if Congress ( wont hold my breath) exercises their right to revoke the State of Emergency.

I must have missed that part where the Radical Islamic Jihadists laid down their suicide bombs.

I must have missed that part where the Radical Islamic Jihadists laid down their suicide bombs.

Never said they did.

But the State of Emergency was put in place 9/14/2001

It allows certain .....shall we say short cuts.....

I have not seen a single event on US soil since & do not see the point

in leaving the short cut door open. It is nothing to reinstate it if needed.

Mr. Flying:

While I might have missed the Islamic surrender party, you may have missed the following incidents:

While these events do fall under the caveat of your not having seen ....."a single event on US soil"...since 9/11, the fact they were foiled merely indicates a state of emergency does in fact exist and that there are some bad guys still out there.

Here are a couple of terrorist incidents that actually did happen:

I see no reason to do anything other than be alert and on guard. We have no other sensible course of action.

Yes I am aware of those events.

Especially the fort hood one as it received a lot of press.

But you feel those warrant a National State of Emergency?

Was the Fort Hood tragedy perpetrated by a "Radical Islamic Jihadist"?

When one yells "Allah Ahkbar" while shooting down unarmed individuals going about their business, I would have to come down on the side of..."YES".

My response is addressed to both your questions.

Under the 1976 National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1601-1651),Congress is required to review presidentially declared emergencies. Specifically, “not later than six months after a national emergency is declared, and not later than the end of each six-month period thereafter that such emergency continues, each House of Congress shall meet to consider a vote on a joint resolution to determine whether that emergency shall be terminated.” Over the past eight years, Congress has failed to obey its own law, a fact that casts doubt on the legality of the state of emergency.
As far as public opinion is concerned, how many Americans are even aware that a state of emergency even exists. For that matter, how many members of Congress know? ...

The Obama administration is essentially arguing that the United States is currently in a state of resisting foreign invasion a full eight years after the attacks of 9/11!

This is ludicrous. [Dr. Harold C. Relyea, a specialist in national government with the Congressional Research Service (CRS) of the Library of Congress] argues that Congress and the judiciary, as “co-equal branches of constitutional government,” serve as a check on the executive power. As we have seen, Congress has either been shut out of this process, or, as in so many cases, it has capitulated. Dr. Relyea then offers that public opinion can restrain the executive. But the public doesn’t even know they’re living under a state of emergency. The media doesn’t report it, and the government is certainly not in the business of providing information that might raise the hackles of real Americans.

Ahhh...well if he yelled that, I would have to agree with you. I didn't know he had....hence the question.
