Crime Man Caught at Petrol Station with Nearly 2,000 E-Cigarettes

A 28-year-old man has been arrested at a petrol station in Bangkok for illegally transporting and distributing nearly 2,000 disposable e-cigarettes, which he was delivering to customers across the Chokchai area based on online orders. The arrest was made by officers from the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s Investigation Division on 21 June at around 16:30. The suspect, Mr. Somchai, was apprehended at a Shell petrol station on Nakniwat Road in Lat Phrao District. Police seized 1,950 disposable e-cigarettes as evidence. Acting on intelligence that an illicit e-cigarette delivery was planned at the location, investigators from the 2nd Investigation Unit of the Metropolitan Police laid in wait. They observed a Toyota Fortuner (registration from Bangkok) pull into the car park, shortly followed by a Mitsubishi Pajero (registration 5 also from Bangkok). Mr. Somchai was seen unloading 20 brown cardboard boxes from the Toyota into the Mitsubishi. Officers approached and identified themselves, then proceeded to inspect the boxes. Inside, they discovered over 1,000 disposable e-cigarettes. Upon questioning, Mr. Somchai confessed to being in possession of the e-cigarettes and claimed he was acting under orders from a man known as “Mr. Chai”, with whom he had communicated via the LINE messaging application. He explained that he had collected the items from a logistics company’s driver and was in the process of delivering them to various drop-off points as directed. He was charged with two serious offences: 1. Violating consumer protection regulations by selling goods banned by the Consumer Protection Board, specifically disposable e-cigarettes and related liquid refills, in breach of Order No. 24/2567. 2. Possessing and distributing prohibited goods, in violation of Section 246 of the Customs Act B.E. 2560 (2017), for knowingly dealing in items banned from import into the Kingdom of Thailand. Mr. Somchai and the seized goods were handed over to investigators at Chokchai Police Station for further legal proceedings. Accident Worker Crushed to Death by Crawler Crane in Construction Site Incident

A construction worker was killed when he was accidentally crushed beneath a crawler crane while assisting with loading the machine onto a trailer at a worker’s camp in Sri Racha district, Chonburi province. Police and rescue officials were called to the scene around 13:00 on 22 June, by the Nong Kham Police Station following reports of a fatal occurrence. The incident occurred in Moo 4, Bueng subdistrict. Upon arrival, authorities found a large trailer with a crawler-type crane already positioned on the flatbed. One of the victim’s shoes was seen wedged in a gap on the metal ramp at the rear of the trailer. Nearby, the body of a 44-year-old man from Phak Hai district in Ayutthaya was found face-down with extensive injuries. He was identified as a construction worker living at the on-site camp. Colleagues stood nearby in shock and sorrow. According to witnesses, the victim had been guiding the crane operator as the vehicle was driven up the rear ramp of the trailer. One co-worker, who had been eating nearby, turned to see the victim already lying beneath the vehicle’s tracks and ran to alert the driver. However, due to the loud noise of the engine, the driver failed to hear the warnings and continued to move the heavy machine forward, running over the man completely. Another colleague revealed that the crane operator was situated on the left side of the vehicle, while the victim was on the right side, near the ramp. He had been signalling to ensure the tracks aligned correctly with the ramp. It is believed his shoe became caught in a gap, causing him to stumble and fall. The driver reportedly did not see him in time. Normally, workers assisting in such operations either position themselves above the vehicle or remain below on the ground. It is still unclear why the victim was standing directly on the ramp in such a hazardous position. Emergency services later transported the body to Laem Chabang Hospital. Police have launched a full investigation into the incident and will proceed according to legal protocols. The victim’s family has been notified and will conduct funeral rites in due course. Crime Man Arrested for Running Fake Coin-Operated Washing Machine Scam

Police have arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly running a fraudulent business that posed as a company installing coin-operated washing machines, cheating victims out of millions. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), through the Crime Suppression Division (CSD), apprehended the suspect, identified only as Mr. Chayaset, at a rented house in Moo 2, Don Kaidee Subdistrict, Krathum Baen District, Samut Sakhon. The arrest was made under a court warrant for fraud. According to the investigation, Mr. Chayaset was the mastermind behind a scheme in which he set up a front company offering washing machine installation services. He allegedly gained the trust of victims by claiming extensive experience and promising fast installations. Once trust was established, he requested deposits for the machines, but ultimately failed to deliver the promised equipment. One victim, a business owner in Pattaya, initially paid a deposit of 300,000 baht. Mr. Chayaset later pressured the victim to transfer the full remaining balance, an additional 900,000 baht, under the pretext of faster delivery. Despite waiting six to seven months, the machines never arrived, resulting in total losses of 1.2 million baht for that individual. Another victim in Phitsanulok was defrauded of 300,000 baht in a similar manner. Police had been tracking his movements for some time and discovered links to another individual named Mr. Suwat, believed to be involved in the operation and previously residing in Udon Thani. Mr. Chayaset had returned to Samut Sakhon where he was eventually arrested. Upon confrontation, officers presented the arrest warrant and informed him of his legal rights. He confessed to being the person named in the warrant and admitted to the charges. It was confirmed this was his first arrest related to the case. Mr. Chayaset was taken into custody and brought to Pattaya Provincial Court for prosecution. Authorities are now expanding the investigation to identify other accomplices and to trace assets obtained through fraudulent means. The operation was carried out under the directive of Police Lieutenant General Jiraphop Phuridej, Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau, and supervised by senior officers including Police Major General Wittaya Sriprasertphap and Police Colonel Suriyasak Jirawat.
