Last couple of body swerves we stayed in the Dun 2 Wan which was good but anybody got any reccos for as said ...only 2 nights.

Main priority is of course must be handy for the red lion/omallys/spotlight/corner bar /true Blue..etc...

I have already stayed in :D but am considering some others. :o

Rydges :D

Pornping Tower :D

Duangtawan Hotel :D

Downtown Inn :D

The Park Hotel :D

Suriwongse Hotel :D

Jirung Health Resort Chiang Mai

Chiang Inn Hotel

Eurasia Hotel

Diamond Riverside Hotel

The Empress Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai Plaza Hotel

Imperial Mae Ping Hotel

Royal Princess.....

looking at the last 2 .....Imperial Mae Ping Hotel/Royal Princess...but :D

Trouble is that we only tend to get up there (C.M)for no more than 2 days at a time so by the time we do the rounds during the day i only have time for a quick run around at night to re-check out the local boozers.(gotta keep up wiff things)

K.Ws mate (our agents- :o )who we buy our wee bits of land through has us fully tied up visiting places all over the joint including i believe lunch/dinner at the the new Dara Devi (just for look)and although its such a short visit she/we still seem to manage to hit every bloody shop in Chaingers.

We also got a bit a meetup with some the the local head men/monks out at May-on to discuss "other things-ideas"for the future...all good fun but as said my pubbing time is a bit limited...hence Red L -Omals etc.

Yea getting boring in old age ...but one day..... :D:D

Yeah, come to think of it, they ain't too good.

I'd go with Chiang Mai Plaza out of the lot. Certainly wouldn't stay in the first 3 on your list. Nice lobby in Rydges, but rooms average and pool stuck in a corner. Pornping cheap n nasty. Duangtawan, rambling and surprisingly scruffy beens' it's a newish hotel. The Plaza is easily the smartest and has a tidy pool area. Rooms are good. Go for the Executive Tower.

The Imp is probably the best regards location for your fav bars. Could always stay at the Tamarind in the old city, if your budget allows. Just grab a tuk, tuk for your bars.

Would go for CM Plaza, Empress or Mae Ping

Seem to give best value and service for money

Have seen some posts on the internet from people that have stayed at the Mae Ping and they have had trouble with things disappering from their rooms. We stayed at the Duantawan Hotel and we have no complaints. Nice pool , good gym, as there were three of us we had a deluxe room which was very nice. Would go there again.

Also stayed at the Empress's sister hotel, The Park, further down the same road. Sevice and rooms were good, if I remeber correctly, though this may be a little far out for you.

Well thats another visit over and this time we made it to the Imperial Mae Ping.

Not a bad hotel but they got off to a bad start by giving us a room on a smoking floor :D urg..Smelt like the inside of an Algerian Bordello on a Friday afternoon after the army has been in for a rub down (they get in free on fridays) :o

Anyway they soon got us another (high floor-delux with slippers and dressing gowns t-maker etc)and with the 3 beds requested but room not as big as would have liked.

Breakfast was also Ok but in conclusion would agree with K.W.that we still prefer Dun 2 wan.....anyway...all in all not 2 bad.

C.M.seemed at the mo seems quite cool and pleasant with the afternoon showers

providing a refreshing cleanup/wipe :D down.

Quick visit to the "ponderosa"in the hills and again actually found it quite cool..almost cold :D ...nice.Planted our cado seeds so will see what happens (if anything)on next visit...whenever?

Even managed a quick visit to the New Dhara Devi and gotta say was quite impressed....Will probabally try the very smart chinese rest on next visit (had a tour ... :D )....anyone been?

Does anyone have anything to say (good or bad) about the Suriwongse Hotel in C.M.? I noticed a smiley next to it in Rinrada's original post. Anyone else have any comments?

Well, Suriwongse Hotel... I've stay there for 1 week. The room is good and clean, everyday got room cleaning service. Dun bother to open the window cos nothing for u to view. Breakfast included, but u gona eat the same B'fast for everyday if u stay for days like me. :D There is one or two Front Reception Lady Staff sucks.....look like we own them money! :o Swimming pool is small but is good enough. There is always a staff standing at the lobby door to open door for u. :D

Well well well ...would you adam and eve it ..dosnt time fly..seems like just the other day that we were going on about the Mae Ping Hotel(May 05) etc and now its time for another jollee... :D

One of wifes mates-mate appears to have aquired a block of flats up near the moat not far from the ping-ring or ding hospital somewhere and has turned it into some kind of condo/hotel complex so looks like my days of slumming it at the Dun 2-1 might be over :o

Will try and get the name of the joint if anyone can identify :D ...I like hotels...need an excuse :D

also any new boozers ?

It is one of the BEST location indeed. Everything is there, Mac and Starbuck. Try to book through internet as u can get internet discount rate.

:o

All this is OFF TOPIC. The OP stated in the title that he wanted to know about short time hotels. Surely somebody will tell him the name of an appropriate hotel in Santi Tham.

They have a good price on their suites, so I think I'll try that. Thanks again for the reviews of the place
