"THAI will transfer its flights to Phitsanulok, Ubon Ratchathani, and Mae Hong Son to Nok Air, its low-fare budget carrier, while the same flight frequencies normally served will be maintained. Effective 1 March 2010. Nok Air will operate two roundtrip flights per day routed Don Mueang Airport-Phitsanulok. Nok Air will operate and two roundtrip flights per day routed Chiang Mai-Mae Hong Son. THAI will continue to operate one roundtrip flight per day on the route Bangkok-Ubon Ratchathani from Suvarnabhumi Airport, while Nok Air will operate two roundtrip flights per day on the route Don Mueang Airport-Ubon Ratchathani. "

Codeshare agreement between Thai & Nok Air

"The Codeshare Agreement enables THAI to sell tickets on Nok Air flight as if operated by THAI . International passengers, traveling to three destinations being Mae Hong Son, Phitsanulok and Ubon Ratchatani are able to purchase ticket through THAI.

The Codeshare Agreement cooperation between THAI and Nok Air determines to create a positive image in the same standard of service with pre-planned schedule and aircraft fleet for future additional flights to serve customer satisfaction. Furthermore, the cooperation between the two airlines helps strengthen the service and competition in full-service, boost regional economy and support Thai tourism that benefits the national economy.

In addition, passengers will continue to receive the same standards of service they previously received from THAI including the accrual of Royal Orchid Plus mileage. THAI is willing to facilitate the needs of passengers who purchase THAI tickets with confidence in Nok Air’s standards of service. Nok Air utilizes THAI aircraft in its operations based on the same aircraft maintenance and flight operational standards."

I refrain from commenting on the usefulness of these changes. Let's suppose that Thai executives know it better..

However, despite all the nice phrases about "same standard of service" and possibility of purchasing ticket through Thai, it is still unpossible to buy a ticket to these destinations through the Thai Airways website or other internet sites (expedia, opodo, etc..)

Why I have sometimes the impression that some areas of this country are allways treated in a different (to not to say derogatory) manner?

BA used to serve several short-haul domestic destinations in the UK but gave them up to partners and latterly rivals.

So nothing new with a large national airline relinquishing some of it's less profitable domestic routes to it's low-cost partner. I wouldn't be surprised to see some routes being dropped completely in the summer as the load factors make them even more of a money loser.

The Thai online booking/purchasing always has been pretty basic and I am sure that the fact that the sprawling metropolis of Phitsanulok and other 'fobbed off' destinations aren't available for booking online isn't due to any perceived 'lower status' of passenger and/or destination. For example, you can't but infant fare tickets online with Thai's website; I still have to make the adult bookings online and then call in for the infant add-on or traipse into one of their offices.

What I want to know is whether I get ROP miles on these routes.

Apparently on a TG ticket, yes you do.

Yes,you will accrue miles ifTG issues you the ticket..however, buying the ticket through TG,DMK-PHS,is approx 5000b which is what they used to charge BKK-PHS in business class. It is far cheaper booking off of Nok Airs website.
