My wife tells me that Red Shirts demand reinstatement of Thaksin, and abolition of an institution that cant be mentioned here. if true, that should about finish them.

That's not true, except for members of one or two splinter groups, at least about the unmentionable bit.

i suggest they just go off to lumpini boxing arena, and have a best of 3 bouts muay thai decider.

anything got to be better than watching this drival! may even run long enough into the night, so that i dont have to be subject to another two hours of thai t.v. soaps. :)

I thought I don’t understand the Thai politics. Looks like these so called the Red Shirt leader also don’t understand.

First of all they should be told who charge (military is)

Second, you have no way in hel_l success to bring back Thaksin

Then may be negotiation can begin

A couple of points. I thought it amazing that the conversations were televised.

That the red shirts said that before the coup the military budget was 80 billion and the Abhisit government upped the military budget to 140 billion. The red shirts mentioned the military budget increase as the reason the military did not stop the yellow shirts from closing the airport.

Also, that they agreed to take a pee break on TV I think was a first.

Also that Abhisit referred to the red shirt Veera as older brother I found interesting and quite polite.

I didn’t hear anything about bringing Thaskin back or mentioning the unmentionable unless it was a counselor but I didn’t hear the whole thing.

<snip for brevity>

The PAD/airport fiasco was of course before the Democrat-led coalition came to power, perhaps they meant the junta-appointed government of PM-Sorayud had increased the military budget, and not the Abhisit government ?

I think they meant that they made a deal during the yellow shirt protests. But I don't really know.
