Are there any signs of higher security in Phuket with the problems in Jakarta....

I will continue to spend lots of time there...It is my second home and will continue to be so!

Well - it's not that new: one has to do the security (luggage) check before entering the terminal (I think this was established after a bomb threat)

there seems to be a lot of stepped up security now. The back road to the airport (run way road) is now a checkpoint, Central department store is checking cars with "foot mirrors" and all checkpoints in and out of Patong are now manned at night. It gives one a feeling of security anyway.
