Buying Mitsu Triton 2.5 ..i Need Advice

Featured Replies

on the baht and sold website there is guy sellin g triton , he says it is 2008 model 2 year old , 27,000 kilo on clock , my father went to see the car today with his wife and his wife looked at the reg book and in the book the year says (year 2549 ) also the guy says it is registered in his girls name , he is in pattaya , the car is registered in khon kaen , ,,if he has lied about the year on the website then it is obviously dodgy , i asked my dads girlfriend again if she was sure it was 4 year old she says she has car herself and she is not stupid, i then phoned the guy and he stated again that the car was 2 year old, mitsu triton 2.5 deisel with 27,000 kilo on clock for 360,000 baht sounds cheap to me !!

anyone of the same opinion as me , i got as bad feeling about buying this car , maybe there is finance owed but he said he paid cash for the car. if it is registered to his girlfriend then thats also going to make things complicated isnt it ? or if we go to tax office in khon kaen will they sort everything out in minutes.

im thinking maybe i should wait and go to a dealer but then dealers arent cheap either they are the middle men putting money on a private sale to the next costumer .

anyone know of any good dealers ? either in pattaya , bangkok, or khon kaen or udon

thanks

If he has the book, fair chance it is fully paid up as it`s the case that the finance company holds the book until it`s fully paid up....But it sounds very much like a 4 year old, normal payment terms 48 months....avoid

thanks husky but what do you mean normal payment terms 48 months avoid, he has the book so maybe its fully paid up.

Simple test to find out the true age, ask for the mitsubushi handbook, on the front cover is a label with the chassis number, warranty number and engine number. E mail these details to mitsubishi motors and they will respond and tell you when it was registered and when the three year warranty expires.

I just did this with mine and got a response the next day (in english)

Well if hes trying to sell a four year old truck as a two year old truck, theres only one thing to do REPORT him to tradeing standards :):D:D

Often a problem here.. Date of car/truck and date of 1st registered, maybe sat unsold for over a year...

Also depends on the model.. not far from me is a big tent seller, there is/was yesterday 4 Mitsu Triton 2.5 for sale, 2 next to each other were 2008, window sticker price 1 @ 386,000 the other 648,000.. Base model the other top model with leather and Auto.

On the Mitsu Triton, as with other 'Base' models here there is No ABS, No Airbags etc.

I've bought my Mitsu from a relative, the richest guy in the family. He told me it was three years old, I believed him. The L 200 version. When we went to the monk ceremony the monk told me the car would be six years old.

I thought, well monks really have to think a lot... :D

When I figured it out that the monk was right, I called the guy. His answer was, yes, it's like a three year old car because he drove it alone, not even his wife was allowed to....

Could get some cash back, but only because I knew somebody who had a higher position.... :D

Never believe them, even a 20 year old shitty Pick Up would only show appr. 120,000 km's ......
