cmon now Humphrey Bear, dont be a stick in the mud. Spongebob is iconic. Been running for what...10 years? Those under the ages of iono..50??...with a sense of the ridicuIous.. usuaIIy have a sense of appreciation for the nuttiness that is sponge. PeopIe have a choice to cIose their minds to anything they want, but i appreciate muIti-IeveIs. From the inanity of Monty Python, to the eloquentness of Shakespeare. If that means i have the mentaI age of a 5 year oId, so be it! :)

I'm sorry, but the once or twice I have been forced to watch that inanity (SpongeBob) because of kids tastes, I have found it to be encouraging stupid behaviour.

Kids do not need to be encouraged in stupid behaviour - they will act that way naturally. What is needed is entertainment that discourages stupid behaviour. It can still be entertaining, it can still appeal to kids, just not to do really stupid things.

The once or twice I have been forced to watch this 'show' due to kids choices, I have been appalled at the stupidity of the programme. It seems to encourage kids in stupid decisions, which kids can and do make on their own all the time. They don't need encouragement not to think things through - they need discouragement from such faulty thought processes. Otherwise they'll grow up to be politicians.

Really, I dislike this programme. It does nothing to encourage kids to 'grow' and develop their own creative thought processes, which is what kiddie TV should be about. Entertaining, with sensible content.

Is there some kind of Bedlamic Mason's Lodge where dark satanic acts are dreamt up to be unleashed on the unsuspecting minions.

Yes it is called the moderator group and then for the truly despotic, depraved and evil to the core there is

I totally agree, it should be classified as pornography of childrens television.

How did we make the leap from SBK the catlady with a whip to Porn for Children?

Ahhhh of course this is Bedlam

I came in this thread hoping for respite from droll that is outside in Bedlam of late. Bad idea.

Then again, maybe you can elaborate on what you mean exactly by "pornography of childrens television", zpete?

Oh my, you missed growing up with Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry, didn't you?

I would if I knew what everyone was talking about.

I agree that children's television is terrible, but I'd hardly call it pornography.

I do thing those foerhead boobies are priceless. However, I can't think of any gal crazy enough to actually wear them. My experience has been that women intentionally dress provocatively for the reaction it causes. They KNOW they have the power over men and they use their sexuality intentionally.

Thaibebop - I grew up during WWII, no cinema, no TV. After the war (I was eight or nine I suppose) we had kiddies Saturday morning cinema, with all sorts of movies, cowboy; space wars; T&J; whatever. And I thoroughly enjoyed it. On Saturday mornings. Knowing it was fantasy. Going out and playing a good game of rugby afterwards.

My father came out of the war (he had been teaching the Yanks about radar) and started a radio/TV manufacturer's company with some colleagues. So from around 1947 onwards we had several TVs in the house. Never in cabinets, never the right way up, always being 'improved'. So I was one of the very early viewers. But it was only for an hour or so a day - first came tea; then homework; then out to play in the woods at the back of the house; come back to see what the TV was showing (only BBC, one channel); some supper and off to bed.

It didn't not never inflooense me - I learnd proper an' got to be an enjineear. (No, not driving a train!).

But it seems that whatever the media put out these days is swallowed verbatim as 'culture' and no one should change it.

I was going to have a rant about the deteriorating content of newspapers on-line such as the Guardian and Telegraph, but I'll leave that for another day.

My Dad built his own TV in 1952, mainly from war surplus stuff.

It was only ever a hobby, he repaired TVs and radios at home for years then gave up when they stopped making valves.

Sayyyyyyyyyyyyy what? look at you? why??

I am here !

LQQK at me !
