Just wondering if anyone is familiar with bringing quantities of goods back into Thailand from Tachilek? I want to access the Burmese bells and spinning gongs, and plan to purchase a reasonable number in Tachilek, bring back to Thailand and export to Australia. What's the scenario on the border in terms of either side wanting to take money from me?

Cheers.

Basically, if it will fit into a couple of carry bags you usually can walk through without attracting attention.

If you're pushing half a dozen boxes on a hand cart they may take an interest though.

I don't think the Burmese will worry much.

From my experience on Saturday, I would agree with this assessment. :)
