My french very poor Patsy. Hes saying goodbye, but i cant catch it aII. Where has she gone? :D what does "je t'aimerai" mean? Oh very sad song. :)

So why do women like to subject themselves to such rubbish?

I mean come on patsy, why not listen to a HAPPY SONG!

So why do women like to subject themselves to such rubbish?

Same reason that some of the ex-pats here befriend total losers, it makes them feel better about their lives.

Woh ..Thaddy...very cynical. For me its the idea that a man loved a women enough to write and sing about her. Same with why many women like romantic movies. Its about emotions and it touches our hearts. Its nothing to do with wanting to feel superior. Actually, i think most women are not that malicious. Im surprised that it would even enter a persons head tbh.

Patsy - I speak French, I read and write French, but I certainly do not understand French.

By the way - have you seen the latest chatter about the little man's slutty wife?

Evidently someone has resurrected an old interview she had with ITV, where she was chatting about a sex guide in seven languages. She felt it was a necessary adjunct to her professional life, travelling around the world.

Or something like that.

But Patsyyyyy...did she go away (leave him) or did she die???

Taddy, how can you have a bad hair day??..you are bald with little pointy horns.

I think she left him and he felt bad

Good for her

He was probably a real nasty person

Tonight in Geneva is the Fete of the neighbours. So, all the wee ladies in the place whêre we live are baking and etc . Me I buy a bottle of wine and a bag of crisps.

Nice sunny evening.

Sorry, i do love that song and wanted to share it with you lot.

Wow, I can't believe even Cabrel made it into Thaivisa. He's a kind of P'Bird in France. Mostly soft, sweet songs and been around for ages.

The lyrics do sound nice but don't really make sense (maybe too poetic for me). I'm not even sure if there is a split up involved or just a guy being in love with his girlfriend/wife. I like the song too so I'll have a go:

My child, naked on the pebbles

My fingers in you untied hair

Like a spring on my path

A diamond fallen from a box

Only the light could

Undo our secret hideouts

Where my fingers caught on your wrists

I loved you, I love you and I will love you

But whatever you do

Love is everywhere you gaze

In the smallest corners of space

In the smallest dream where you linger

Love as though raining down

Naked on the pebbles

The sky has it it knows you

It's so beautiful, it's surely true

It usually never comes close

I saw it caught in your hairdo

The world has so many regrets

So many things one promises

Only one thing I was meant for

I loved you, I love you and I will love you

But whatever you do

Love is everywhere you gaze

In the smallest corners of space

In the smallest dream where you linger

Love as though raining down

Naked on the pebbles

We'll fly away from the same pier

For this life and the next

You will be my only project

I will attach your picture

On all the ceilings of all the palaces

On all the walls that I will find

Just below I will write

That only the light could. (sic)

But I genuinely like you ?

I did say 'some' .... it's not a universal rule.

So he's got an obsession with being nekkid on Brighton beach (the UK one - it's all pebbles). He's French, so forgiveable.

(The little man's Hungarian - so explainable)

(And his wife's Italkian - so understandable)

Picky

Nobody understands the French.

Nobody understands the French.

I'm sure the French do....and possibly the Belgians, too.

Franco-Belgian relations

A few years ago I was working for a French company, building a power plant in Indonesia.

Comes Belgian National Day and the French newspapers carried an advert "Pommes frites - two portions for the price of three"

Because pommes frites (French fries) are the Belgian national dish and the French regard the Belgians much as we in the UK regard the Irish - two short planks.

The project was a GEC-Alsthom joint venture. None of the French would speak English, none of the Brits would speak French. I spent half my time trying to get these idiots to communicate with each other. In the end we got some sort of 'petitie alliance" going, by organising a Hash on alternate Sundays. But it was damned hard work.

The French and the Belgians have a relationship that borders on war much of the time. If one takes a position to the left, the other immediately goes right, and so on.

Sorry - meant "petite" but slipped in an extra 'i' for fun. Merde!

So do you - what? Patsy?

Take the opposite stance

or

understand French

or

understand THE French

or

any combination of the above.
