yes! but, american humor and blatant absurdity seem to go hand in hand. when it comes to thinking rationally about foreign policylaugh.gif

Well, right or wrong, good or bad, America is the current king of the hill so get used to it. The only thing you can do is what you already are - hanging out on forums whinging about it.

Since your recent posts like to single out Americans, what nationality are you?

i am of the same nationality as the poor servicemen/women that have lost their lives or have been injured. because of being roped into the iraq afghangnistan conflict, by the blair british government. that were fed false information by the bush admistration.

Surprise, surprise, another whinging Brit. :)

oh so i suppose you call the unessesary loss of life in the iraq/afghan conflicts, justified!

oooohh, touchy this morning some of you, hey!

nobody likes someone to question the motives of such actions, if it hits the wrong nerve.

Not touchy at all. You asked the question. I answered it.

However, it does seem as though I hit the wrong nerve with you.

not at all on my part, and i dont profess to being someone who belongs to an "exclusive club" as you put it.

all i was saying is that like a lot of so called experts on the subject, their are those that like to pass judgement without having the slightest idea of what the middle east conflict is all about.

ie. never having set foot in a middle eastern country and take what they are told as being the gospel truth.

take for example the invasion of iraq, on the basis of them having WMD. who do you think fed the u.s.their intelligence?

Why don't you tell us what the Middle East conflict is all about, based on your grass roots experience. I would find it very enlightening to hear your perspective on the issue.

I have no idea who, specifically fed the erroneous information on WMDs, other than Saddam Hussein. He covered up his WMD situation believing his payments to the Russians, Chinese, UN and various French and British politicians from his Oil for Food program would keep the wolves from the door. He was wrong, it seems.

Let me ask somebody that has been there how you would feel, living in Israel or Palestine, knowing that Syria, Iraq and a nuclear Iran were all lined up in a pretty row calling for you to be wiped off the face of the earth?

I wouldn't think it would be a very comforting thought at bedtime each night. What think you?

It appears Tigerfish does not wish to answer my questions.

He obviously wants to bash the Yanks and discuss soccer. Talk about immature......

You make this too easy.

Go ahead, take your handful troops out of Afghanistan. That won't stop them from trying to blow up you planes, trains & buses. You've got just as much at stake there as the US whether you want to believe it or not. Probably more since you're easier to hit.

Here's a little tidbit for you - SOCCER is an ENGLISH term. First used at Oxford in the 1800's, it's short for Association Football. I guess you guys started calling it Football because your royal family is really German.

Talk about annoying USA! USA!. How about the most arrogant fans on the planet - the English. Always the "best team in the world on paper!" but can never get it together on the pitch. Maybe you should do less annoying singing in the pubs like one giant flaming Brit boy band and just watch the match. :)

Finally, you should win tonight. If you do, no one will really be surprised and bragging about winning against the USA will make you look even more like an idiot.. However if you lose, you will be the laughing stock of the "football" world for years to come.

Well, if they share your attitude then it probably isn't friendly fire in the first place.

The Brits invented 'friendly fire'

Even before the British state came into existence, the English in particular were making deadly gaffes. In 1471, during the War of the Roses, the Lancastrian division under the command of the Earl of Warwick - out of position in the poor light and mist of early dawn in Barnet, Hertfordshire - fired at a division led by the Earl of Somerset, a division that was similarly on the Red Rose side, inflicting severe casualties. During the Napoleonic wars, as a consequence of the Prince Regent having changed the British Light Dragoons' headdress to a broad-topped model that resembled the French light cavalry shako, the Light Dragoons were fired upon by their own side at the 1815 Battle of Waterloo.

Much worse was to come in the Second World War. Indeed, the very first planes to be shot down by Spitfires in that conflict were two Hawker Hurricanes, mistaken for Messerschmitt 109s. In 1939 the submarine HMS Triton sank fellow Royal Navy submarine HMS Oxley, mistaking it for a U-boat. In 1941, HMS Sheffield, misidentified as the Bismarck, was torpedoed by Fleet Air Arm. The following year, the Polish submarine ORP Jastrzab was sunk by HMS St Albans and HMS Seagull. In 1944 a British flotilla was attacked by RAF Hawker Typhoons near Le Havre, and one, HMS Salamander, incurred such damage that it had to be scuppered.

Let us also not forget the most ghastly incident of friendly fire of the Second World War, when on 3 May 1945, only a day before the German army capitulated, the RAF bombed three ships moored in Lübeck Harbour, which contained 7,000 French Jews and Russian and Polish PoWs. Many of those lucky enough to escape to dry land were murdered by the SS, and only 350 victims of RAF incompetence made it home alive.

In contrast to today's risk-averse, where-there's-a-blame-there's-a-claim society, one that believes – as witnessed in Vietnam in the 1960s and Yugoslavia in 1999 – that you defeat an enemy principally by bombing from the air without incurring any casualties, there was previously the sensible appreciation that if you give men lethal weapons and machinery, accidents will happen. This is because human beings are imperfect. As the columnist Bernard Dineen wrote in the Yorkshire Post of a specific friendly fire incident in Iraq in February: 'Many years ago, I was on the receiving end of RAF friendly fire. The natural reaction of soldiers was "Bloody RAF",

Friendly Fire

Typically you quote one side.

Here's the full article from Wiki you have quoted from. I guess that just about says it all,

Not to worry & please don't confuse those with Americans.

All have probably spent most/the majority of their lives outside the USA.

As such they tend to be cheer leaders not of the USA but of the actions of the US Military complex.

Their fear of supposed terrorism by a handful makes them react the way they do. Their 100% belief in the printed BS they swallow & then repeat does not help.

As such they wear their place of birth like a badge never knowing what the actual patriots who live in the US feel/believe.

They only represent the mistaken because they live not in the US but elsewhere & hear/read stories & base their absentee votes on that mis-information. They vote based on that never seeing the cost of their misinformed actions back in their supposed home.

Makes me wish Ex-Pats had to re-qualify for citizenship after X amount of years of absence. Since they are so out of touch with reality here in the US.

They do not represent the folks who actually live & breath here in the US....thankfully & sadly at the same time. Sadly because their mis-informed votes help crush the constitution & life back here in the USA

They are basically just as you describe...nothing more

It is ironic, isn't it? We love our country so much yet we moved away. You hate your country but can't grow the cajones to live elsewhere. We expats may not be living in the USA anymore but that doesn't mean we don't love it. I suppose you still haven't moved out of your parent's house, right? In addition, you probably think the Brits here are all posting from the comfort of their home in jolly ol' England? It's you who live in a narrow-minded world of not living abroad and experiencing different cultures. Maybe you should stick to the forum in your local Mayberry newspaper website.

How's that again?

Wrong, yet again.   :)

The pot calling the kettle black once again. You wanted to claim that only you truly understand the situation until chuckd put a stop to that. You have your opinion like a whole multitude of other a-holes and very little to back it up.

Typically you quote one side.

I think that that we are all aware that the US has also had friendly fire incidents, but the whole point of the article is that every country with modern arms does and the British have a lot to answer for if they want to point fingers at anyone else - written by an Englishman by the way. Friendly fire is not something that can be avoided in modern warfare.

It is not ironic how little you comprehended of that post.

I have homes in multi countries but spend the majority of every year in the USA.

Moved out of my parents home on my 18th birthday... how about you?

You love your country so much you moved away? :D:)

We thank you....

As for where any Englishmen here are posting from....No that would be silly as I expect most on this forum live in LOS. But I just wanted him to understand the 3 poor examples here that he referenced do not represent the USA...thankfully

Why do you think I said it didn't seem you were going to answer my questions?

I can only think of two reasons why no response is forthcoming.

1. You have no confidence in voicing your solutions.

2. You, like most liberals, really have no answers.

Not to worry & please don't confuse those with Americans.

Why don't you tell us about reality in the US? Start a thread and tell us exactly what frustrations and problems you are having back there. I, for one, would be interested in hearing someone tell us how it really is for them. We have to get our information from available news reports on TV and, of course the internet. Why not give us some current information you feel we are missing by not being there to experience it?

I talk to my son and daughter in the US quite often by phone. He is a successful businessman and my daughter is married to a Coast Guard Officer. They seem quite happy and content. My five grand-children appear to be normal children growing up, much as I did, in the US. They understand perfectly well why I am chosen to live my life as I do, yet they do not wish to follow in my footsteps. They are content in their own skin and are quite happy living in the US. Good for them.

You, on the other hand, seem to have gotten a taste of living in Thailand and envy our ability to live here full time and put the frustrations of living back there behind us. Your seeming anger would be better directed at yourself, rather than those of us that have been able to become independent enough to live where we wish.

I am rather disappointed at the tone and tenor of your post. You have no idea why we are as we are, yet you dismiss us as US citizens and seem to believe we have no right to our opinions and beliefs because we do not put up with all the BS you do by living in the US. Believe me, we have paid our dues. We don't expect people like you to give us any respect but we also will not stand for people like you that try to take away the freedoms we have earned by birthright and our actions.

We have proven our patriotism in more ways than you will ever know or can possibly comprehend. You seem to have led a sheltered life, safely ensconced in the comfort of your Laz-E-Boy, Budweiser at hand, watching WWE on the telly.

As for where any Englishmen here are posting from....No that would be silly as I expect most on this forum live in LOS. But I just wanted him to understand the 3 poor examples here that he referenced do not represent the USA...thankfully

First of all, let's be clear - you aren't a "real" American yourself. You have already told us on these pages that you grew up in a monarchy so you can drop the facade. Second, I started to take tigerfih to task after he specifically attacked Americans/septic tanks in maybe 3 posts. You seem to you think that if he went to America and pulled that, that "real Americans" wouldn't do what we 3 "poor examples" are doing and defend our country. Well, they would. That is unless he did his trash talking to Obama then he would get apologies in retrun. Finally, I'm sure that if I went to any of the Brit-filled bars on Samui or any pub in England and started off on them that they would defend their country as well and/or kick the holy crap out of me. :)

You, on the other hand, seem to have gotten a taste of living in Thailand and envy our ability to live here full time and put the frustrations of living back there behind us. Your seeming anger would be better directed at yourself, rather than those of us that have been able to become independent enough to live where we wish.

Silly boy...I have said before I choose to live where I live.

I have homes in multiple places & choose to stay in the US

No anger here....

I just get tired of ugly americans giving the rest of us a bad name.

Kow Jai?

Your as retro as retro can be.

The three stooges here who constantly refer to anyone outside of their small view/opinions as liberals...That is the worse. Like Archie Bunkers x10

I cant stand a bleeding heart liberal but the only thing worse is the died in the wool old timers like you folks who can only play the same old recording over & over from a time long gone by. Based in Fear & Hatred.

As for telling you how it is...why?? You pretend to have the ability to understand?

We have been through this before.

As I told the other musketeer/stooge...I just did not want the English gent to think you three represent anything that your not...

First of all, let's be clear - you aren't a "real" American yourself. You have already told us on these pages that you grew up in a monarchy

Did I? Or is it that comprehension thing again? Did I say I was born in a monarchy? Or grew up in one?

What I did agree with & we all know the 3's stance on it was when he said..

oh so i suppose you call the unnecessary loss of life in the iraq/afghan conflicts, justified!

Yet you three are first in line to call anything against the *chosen* few anti what ever... :D

You went so far as to use that same old scare mongering on him...Something to the effect of...Oh well your country may be first in line & will get bombed by the TERRORIST...Oh no........... :) Get a grip

First of all, let's be clear - you aren't a "real" American yourself. You have already told us on these pages that you grew up in a monarchy

Did I? Or is it that comprehension thing again? Did I say I was born in a monarchy? Or grew up in one?

Either way, not very representative of Americans so quit making all these BS claims.

What an awful way to live though.

First sign of weakness and they would be set upon and torn apart by the Arab world with no mercy. Kinda explains their somewhat Un-PC approach to diplomacy.

Too bad that all the  American appeasers don't go live in the Islamic countries that they love so much. It would be interesting to see how many minutes it would take these whining rejects to turn on their Muslim radical hosts - and get their heads cut off.   :)

"An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile--hoping it will eat him last"--Winston Churchill

Either way, not very representative of Americans

Man not too bright....

Perhaps it would be easier for you to know someone can be born anywhere & if both parents are US citizens so is the child. Dont strain yourself... Imagine your parents take a vacation for your birthday
