Case 01: TRUE MOVE

about 8 months ago i get a phone call from a TRUE representative telling me that because they have changed their system the forgot to bill me since 1 year for the 006 ( international) phone calls I made.

" you need to pay 5400 baht right now" .... I explain that I want to see the detail of the phone calls and that if it verifies that it is real i agree to pay, but because it is their mistake they have to meet me half way and bill me 500 baht extra on my monthly bill for 1 year. The representative agrees and the matter is settled.

2 days after they call me again and say that if i pay 3000 baht cash in one time, i will have to pay only 3000 baht and that's all. I say OK, just send me the invoice and i will pay as soon as I receive it. " sorry we cannot send you an invoice for this, you have to pay at a TRUE office " i answer that without written invoice of the settlement I would have no proof that it would stop at 3000 baht , so I refuse the offer and tell them to bill me monthly 500 baht extra for 1 year as previously agreed. she says OK and i think this is the end of the story.

2 weeks later I receive a letter in Thai saying that if I dont pay within 15 days they will cut my phone... I call them, tell my story again asking them if they wish to lose a customer who has been paying his bills every month since 2001 instead of working to settle the issue. the rep excuses herself and says that it is probably a mistake and that she will look into it.

2 weeks later another threat letter " pay or else" ... i call them back again , re explain the issue, get excuses " sorry sir it wont happen again" ...

then no news from them , they didnt answer any of the emails I sent them .... i still have my phone line and pay every month .... until today ....

I received this morning a letter from a recollection agency saying that I have to pay 5400 baht or else ... then again phone to TRUE .... "ok sir, we will look into it sir blah blah blah ...." phone to the debt collector " ok we will call true blah blah blah " I don't know how it is gonna end but i suspect that my butt-hole will hurt.

Case 02: TRUE ADSL

1 month and a half ago I want to change my adsl speed from 4.5 Mbps to 8Mbps .... ok sir no problem just send a copy of your passport .... I do and wait... couple days after I receive a call " sorry sir we cannot upgrade your account because you are blacklisted for non payment of bill" <deleted>? i pay my ADSL bills every single month since 2003 what is going on? " sir you have 5 months unpaid bills from august 2006 to december 2006 at your home on sukhumvit 50" .... Hmmm lady I'm sorry to inform you that I cut the account for this house on October 03 2006 because I moved from there, so can you explain how I can have unpaid bills for October to December 2006 while the account was already shut down? more over How could I open a new line in my new home on October 6 if I had an unpaid balance since July? " eeeerrrrrrr let me check sir ..... waiting music ..... eeeeerrrrrr well it seems that the billing department forgot to put you on the blacklist at the time .... sir you have to pay 5400 baht "..... ohhhhh strange the exact same amount than true move ! OK miss, you send me the copy of the unpaid invoices , I will cross check them against my bill archives and also give you proof that I closed the account on october 3 2006 so it is impossible that i have unpaid bills for 3 months after. in any case you show me the bills or i will not pay a dime. " OK Sir ... i will ask the billing depatment to send you the bills .....

As of totay I havent received anything and she didnt call back ..... I guess I may expect another letter from the debts collection agency...

My question is: as anyone got something similar happening to them with TRUE? If yes I would like to hear your stories and compare it to mine to see if there is a pattern. For me it really sound like a creaming scam ... and I guess they must do it mostly with Thais are they usually never contest the big corporations.

Perhaps True is experiencing financial problems??

My issue was with them wanting to charge me to re-align my TV satellite dish (their equipment) after a storm.

Seems someone in my other thread mentioned they didn't have to pay for re-alignment in the past.

I just dropped them. Wasn't too thrilled with their programming to begin with.

yep i gave up on true cable in 2006 .... i have way much more choice on the internet .... every TV channel has free reruns of their shows on the internet ( french TV for me) news, documentaries, TV flicks .... for movies and TV series I use the newsgroups

Just pay 300 to the landlady for the wifi.

A True techie dropped by and set up my lappy for it.

Sod the cable. The wife makes do with the free 7.

"[h}as anyone got something similar happening to them with TRUE?"

What something similar - an offer to pay only 60% of what I owe them, and then get upset when I refused to pay and they rescinded the offer? Never happened to me. I did have a problem with my wireless router, and True sent someone out to take care of the problem free.

True sucks.

The programming is very limited and expensive.  And the "upgrades" are hardly that.  I received their notice of the last "upgrade," which consisted of canceling NatGeo Adventure and adding a Korean channel.  How that is an upgrade baffles me.

I have been traveling to the Philippines lately for business, and while Thailand is head and shoulders above there in most areas, the television there is much, much better.  For half the month fee, you get many more and more diverse channels.  Two cooking channels, two comedy channels, all the nature and history channels, several series channels for American, British, and Australian shows, a bunch of other channels, and then quite a few other language channels.

I am in a condo now, but as soon as I get out and into a house, I need to see how I can get something other than True.

guys you are drifting away from the subject .... we are not speaking about true vision or any offer from them .... i m speaking about charging me for things that they cannot even prove ... they refuse to show me the bills that i supposedly forgot to pay , they even want to bill me for a service that was already canceled 3 months before.

read and understand what you read first THEN answer.

What about the months of August and September on that internet bill, had you planned on stooging them for that ??

Have that since the start, UBC, wasn't it? and have downgraded since then, because the program got more boring year by year. Repeatings, repeatings, endless repeatings, even at the more sophisticated channels,....have seen the one with the most dangerous jobs 3 times, 'cause it was interesting, the crab fishermen in the Northern Seas, but not a fourth time...

anyway, now ok with the cheapest package for something, the so called knowledge package with Thai TV for the fam and sometimes a movie in True Movie channel and sometimes TV5 the French one.

ha ha,

no, they show really good series, like the one every Sunday about different Marine life all over the French world at 20:00, movies about e.g. the problematic situation of Muslim in France and old ones. Old French movies belong to the best cinema has produced > Jean-Luc Godard, François Truffaut, Claude Chabrol, and Eric Rohmer...

Since True has millions of customers I expect there are plenty of billing horror stories. Does that mean there is a pattern: yes, no, maybe. Now, whether True is any worst than any other major Thai telecommunications company is probably impossible to determine. To the best of my knowledge there are no Thai govt agency or private companies that collect data and put out periodic metrics on how companies compare to each other in the customer complaint/service department.

I know I had a pain of time in just getting my monthly bill from TrueMove to arrive in my mailbox...with all the different bills I get every month in the mailbox, the TrueMove bill was the only one that never showed up even after confirming several times with TrueMove that they had the correct address. The TrueVisions bill would always (still does) show up; but the TrueMove bill only made it to my mailbox one time and that was the very first bill. I canceled with TrueMove; much happier with DTAC.

the point is that I pay my bills every month and if i really didnt pay july to september i could not have closed the account and open a new line in the new house .... but ready to pay if im wrong ... unfortunately for them i still have the bills and the payment receipts

Sorry, but you don't "own" the thread here.

You brought up True, and if anyone else has something to add about them, or something to do with TV5 or DTAC or whatever, well that's the way it goes.

WARNING! SOME SUGGESTIONS GIVEN HERE! :)

OP doesn't have to do anything, only ask for the invoice to be sent. Give them several options to send you the invoice. Fax, email, mail, registered mail, hand delivery with motorbike.

It is THEIR responsibility to get the bill to you, not your responsibility. Stress that you want to pay the bill, but it is impossible for you to do so without it. If they say "go to shop", say it is impossible: "no, can not without bill".

If they do send you a bill, and it happens to look different, ask "why does it look different from all the other invoices?" (It cold happen. Verify payment info.)

Scan all your previous bills, and collect them, to be sent back to True (via email with an immediate phone call to the service center) the moment a new invoice arrives demanding payment. They can not argue you have paid old invoices and/or canceled services should you show them proof.

If needed, go to a larger True service center (eg. the one at IT Mall), ask to speak with the manager immediately (do not begin explaining why or how or anything).

Show the manager the new bill and ask the manager "Why do you send me this bill?". If the manager then says "Unpaid bill etc etc", simply show all the COPIES (not originals, but bring them just in case) of your bills that have been paid. Have the manager verify it, and clear your account of any outstanding amounts. Ask for free service for 1 month to cover all your traveling costs and inconvenience. Insist. They were wrong, caused you a lot of trouble, it is time to make things correct by offering you free service.

Get the manager to give you an "account fully paid until Day/Month/Year" SIGNED paper (on proper True letter head paper of course). Make sure they clear your account status on the computer. Insist. They can do a lot more than they want to at a large service center, but you have to keep insisting.

Good luck.
