Accident Man Electrocuted While Repairing Roof in Nakhon Phanom
Picture courtesy of Kaoded. A 67-year-old man lost his life after being electrocuted while repairing the roof of his home in That Phanom district, Nakhon Phanom province. Emergency services were alerted at 13:40 on 13 May, via the 191 emergency hotline to a report of a man electrocuted on the roof of a house in Village 13, That Phanom sub-district. Officers from That Phanom Police Station, led by Pol. Lt. Amarin Prameanchai, deputy inspector for prevention and suppression, along with a patrol unit, were immediately dispatched to the scene. The victim was identified as Mr. Wirat Maneerat, aged 67, who was found severely injured from an electric shock. According to initial reports, he had been attempting to replace corrugated roofing sheets on his home when the accident occurred. It is believed that while working on the roof, situated dangerously close to high-voltage power lines, he either came into direct contact with or got too close to the lines, resulting in a fatal electric shock. Family members at the scene quickly called for emergency medical assistance, but despite their best efforts, Mr. Wirat succumbed to his injuries before he could be transported to hospital. His relatives, while deeply saddened, have stated they do not suspect foul play and will proceed with traditional funeral rites. Adapted by Asean Now from Kaoded 2025-05-14. -

Accident Hit-and-Run: Elderly Cyclist Killed in Roi Et
Picture courtesy of Amarin. Police in Roi Et province have launched an urgent search for a pickup truck driver who fled the scene after fatally striking a 79-year-old man riding a bicycle early morning on 13 May. The incident occurred at approximately 05:45, on the Roi Et–Maha Sarakham road, in front of Ban Hong Mek School, located in the Ko Kaew sub-district of Phon Thong district. Upon receiving the report, investigators from Selaphum Police Station, along with emergency rescue teams from Ko Kaew and Silanakhon, rushed to the scene. They found the lifeless body of Mr. Plian Wongsupeng aged 79, lying near a heavily damaged old bicycle by the roadside. The pickup truck involved was no longer at the scene. According to initial investigations, Mr. Plian had been riding along the shoulder of the road when a pickup truck approached from behind and struck him. The impact was fatal, and the driver failed to stop or provide any assistance, instead fleeing immediately. Police are now reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area in a bid to identify and locate the driver. The suspect will be called in for questioning and legal action will be pursued. Authorities have condemned the driver’s callous behaviour and vowed to bring them to justice. Adapted by Asean Now from Amarin 2025-05-14.
