then...there was always Beethoven's 3rd, the 'Eroica'...my favorite and one night in Venice, CA I was playing the vynal to have the GF come out of the bedroom and smash it over her knee...'enough!, get yer ass to bed...', she declared...

it wasn't that the music was loud it was that I had fallen over a few times trying to get the strings to be more 'moderato'...who was I to challenge Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony?

it wasn't that the music was loud it was that I had fallen over a few times as an armchair conductor trying to get the strings to be more 'moderato'...who was I to challenge Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra? :(

thought id go off in the direction of some influential u.s. outfits tonight.

could choose any number of tracks from this lot, but went with just the one.

i give you, the pixies!

Huge influence on me, my brother Bob. Seeing him live in '80 one of the greatest

experiences of my life.

!!!

ALL, good stuff.

My sorta music mostly.

Below is a link to one of the best pieces of sound engineering.

This is a video of street singers from around the world being recorded, overlayed and mixed with one another while singing the song "Stand By Me".

It is a marvel to listen to and watch.

They all deserve to be heard.

The finished product is tremendous!

So turn up the speaker volume and enjoy sumfin a bit different

Freak of nature, and not cuz of his albinism. Multitalented and launched careers of Montrose, Derringer, etc.

OK, this one's just for me, but maybe tutsi will dig it too:

Haven't seen this kind of virtuosity in 25 years at least, and largely done while stoned to the gills.

sheed, lanna ...that's just right...tutsi standing in the rain outside a North Beach club in SF listenin' to his hero...spent too much on cheap wine and couldn't pay the cover...he played a tight set with no pyrotechnics...he died of an OD soon after...

thing is he always played a Les Paul Jr and they got him with a strat on the cover to the video...the action is quite different on the two instruments...not that I know anything about it these days; haven't played in 35 years...

Mike Bloomfield recorded an amazing interview with KPFA Pacifica radio early 80s...he talked about payin' dues in south side Chicago clubs as a suburban whiteboy wannabe guitarist...google and check it out...

back in the u.k. when i was younger i did a stint of working in a well known record store in central london.

anyway at the close of business everyday we would get the choice of choosing one song to be played while the last customers made their purchases and we got the store back into some sort of order. i always choose this song to be played on either a friday or a saturday, seeing as it was kind of a tradition to hit the nearest pub after we had left the store.

still remember back then in the summer months of us all do our funny little dance to the tune as we went along our merry way, whilst thinking about the exotic concoctions of alcohol that awaited us in the local round the corner.

never a good idea that! especially when getting chatting to what looks like a beautiful blurry vision of the female form.

found this little gem on youtube. brings back memories of mark and lard(the shirehorses) anyone from manchester will know what im going on about.

a john squire project from the late 90s if i remember rightly.

a couple of steps back in time now.

firstly, the carpenters !

and boney m.

god i love this old stuff ! anyone fancy a boogie?

Like some wines, some music gets better with age. White man's soul music:

Interesting Youtube comments too. No one calling anyone an asshol_e while they're talking about Jesus saving them. That's refreshing.

excellent selection, lanna...I still remember their smiling faces on the Blind Faith album cover 40 years ago: Winwood, Clapton, GINGER BAKER and I can't remember who the bassist was...Jim Capaldi?

the applause after Mr Fantasy (first recorded when Stevie was with Traffic late 60s) said it all...those dudes are timeless...

firstly, the carpenters !

y'know...I always liked the Carpenters...their material was corny but that girl shure could sing...incredible range...I was sad when she died...
