<deleted> yerself! The guy makes a sarky comment and I responded mildly. Furthermore, he then provokes the situation further, to which you add fuel.

Had your initial criticism not been aimed at one particular poster it might have been fair comment. Anyway enough of this nonsense....

<deleted>!!! I did not make a criticism!! I merely, MERELY said I did not think his choice was "timeless".

Seensitive souls could construe that as criticism.

Edit: Sorry, I forgot to post a timeless tune.

sensitive no!

but what i couldnt understand was the need for harcourt to pass comment on that one particular track i had selected. when other posters had just been happy to let the thread ride its course and enjoy the music.

like i said at the time of posting its up to the individual and their personnel preferences.

to me that track in particular is timeless, because it brings back memories of my youth and of going out clubbing with my friends when i was a teenager. it was also a massive hit and topped the charts for a number of weeks, but more significantly though and why i think its timeless in a different respect, is that it also had a huge effect on the music scene at that time. clubbing became more main stream, both stateside and in the u.k. artists started using different forms of new and up and coming technology to make a record. youth culture changed with the introduction of certain kinds of drugs used.

most tracks were released on small independent labels, played in underground clubs or at raves and got a cult following which grew. eventually challenging the big record labels and their so called artists in the hit parade, thus making them change their attitude to who they gave new record deals to.

without such artists and tracks back then i dare say that we wouldnt of got the chance to to here such groups like the prodigy, massive attack, portishead, tricky and other bands who have taken to experimenting and using different technics when making music. and IMHO making the music world and industry a more enjoyable and better thing.

Breathe is my favourite prodigy track.

<deleted> me is that a good tune.

However the theme of this thread is songs that humanity will never forget, and so what else could I present you with other than:

hey!...look out...I already posted Joe Cocker at Woodstock...

furthermore, I saw Janis backstage in Pasadena in 1968 AND SHE GRABBED MY WRIST AND AUTOGRAPHED MY JACKET...

so, there... :whistling:

I'm so jealous. Sooooooooooo jealous!! :D True so there!! ;)

cant think of a better way to reach my 1000th, than by posting these two classics.

enjoy!

^ carrying on the the theme and taking it in a different direction.

She only grabbed his wrist 'coz he was holding a bottle of SC.

And "autographed my jacket" is a euphemism for a "technicolour yawn".

This one's a bit grainy. But to see Michael Stipes with curly red hair aka Simply Red...

Sorry, perhaps someone already posted this song. Who cares?? It is classic!!
