Mmm i saw one at home works (powerbuy) but its quite a small unit and the anti-sales man struck me as a complete buffoon (shock horror - thai retail employing someone that know FA about the product). The spaces i want to use the unit in range from around 30M2 to 400M2. The powerbuy unit i think is rather underpowered for the bigger area's i need to use it in

Hi. I might tag my question onto your thread if you don't mind :D

Like a lot of people (I imagine) on Thaivisa, I live between two houses. With one of them, we put most of our stuff in a large locked storeroom and rent out the place ... but there is an issue with mildew. I am looking at dehumidifiers at the moment, and the main question in my mind is "how safe are they to leave switched on in auto mode for long periods of time?".

Some of them can be set on a particular level of humidity and they cut in and cut out accordingly. But of course I would hate to have an issue with breakdown or (shudder) fire. I have called two of the suppliers/manufacturers and they say don't leave it unattended for more than a week or two. Then again they would say that anyway to cover their backsides ... I am sure there must be units that can be safely left on for long periods if properly installed ... can anyone shed any light on this issue please?

I use to live on the beach in California. I had a room in the back of the house with a large closet. It always smelled...so a friend recommended to leave a light on. Worked perfectly. Maybe that would help?

They had two models when I looked ( as reported above) and the "container" could be removed so that you could hook up a small diameter hose to drain the water, thus insuring un-attended use

I looked at Homeworks today and only saw one (rather small). They are mixed in with the Air Purifiers and the working staff had to ask other working staff which one was a de-humidifier (all of this in Thai as my wife was the one talking).
