Beach Getaways

Featured Replies

I'd like to hear peoples experiences with beach getaways in the rainy season, places still worth visiting, islands where tourism facilities keep running, any places that are lucky to only recieve small amounts of rain etc. responses much appreciated.

where? and when? there are different rainy seasons at different places in Thailand. But except some ferries and island not too outward everywhere tourist facilities are running throughout the year.

where: beaches anywhere in thailand

when: the 'general' rainy season july - october

best places: Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao. Rainy season there starts end of october

Thailand as a whole receives generous amounts of rain from June to October (Northern Area) and from May to November (Southern Area). So don't expect much rush on the beach during the rainy season, although tourist facilities are on throughout the year. Even swimming and snorkeling is not allowed by the authorities.
