as soon as I saw the howard stern link loading, I closed it. (yes, my internet is slow).

sorry nd, anything that guy does is crass and disgusting and not worth my limited bandwidth :)

I don't like Mr Stern either, but you have to watch that clip.

Cringe laughs, ashamed of myself.

Do you laugh at cripples too?

Of course not.

I thought those chaps were very brave to do that.

(your definition of a cringe laugh may be different to mine)

I thought they were very brave to do it too (through my tears of laughter), and, also, show off their moobs in the most natural way possible.

Just goes to show, you should never judge a guy for his sexual prowess or the size of his apendage. "i love him for his personality".... BULL

I am absolutely loving that link. Jumping up and down and giggling in a rather evil way!!

You would if he introduced himself on the way out.

And making a woman laugh is a bad thing?

Reminds me of that old Fairy Tale;

Once upon a time, a bloke asked a girl to marry him, she said "No".

He lived happily ever after, <deleted>£$%%ed all her friends, rode motorcycles, went fishing, played football, drank beer, ate curry, left the toilet seat up played X-Box, farted as often as he liked and had a wank whenever he wanted one.............................The END,

Moral of the story ?

Um, no. I can't say that I have actually seen that many guys refute the belief that women are after money. In fact, if anything, it seems to be a major belief of a great number of vociferous posters on this forum so if there are men who believe that they are unusually silent.

To bring up an old point, I never did get around to this.

This is something that really gets under my skin, its others mean who assume that all relationships rely on money that gets under my skin. Just because their own relationships work that way they assume that all other relationships must work that way. I think in a way for many men it is kind of a self fulfilling prophecy: They think that way and so it happens that way. Personally if I was to find myself in a possible relationship where money seems to be the main factor, I'd be out whereas others might continue because they think it is the norm.

Without mentioning names, I saw a comment from a certain poster about the percentage of women in the bar trade on a certain island. The thing is, he is probably right in his observations, which only goes to give as an image of the kind of lifestyle he has. This poster has the same kind of disrespectful thoughts throughout many of his contributions.

I simply cannot envisage a relationship where money is the major indicator of happiness. I find it extraordinary when people say things like "My wife is happy because I bought her a house", or "I give her xxx/month which makes her happy". What a shallow thing to say, if I offered to give Mrs. Rakers a salary then she'd likely slap me for treating her like a whore. What about compassion and understanding, what about being able to stimulate each other intellectually and knowing how each other works. Surely having these factors are worth so much more than cash in a relationship, after all they are things that simply cannot be bought. It would seem as though it simply is not the case for some though.

I have learned not to get involved in such discussions because it can be like arguing with a bigot. I can give a valid argument such as my own relationship not being money orientated but it falls on deaf ears or I am slammed for being 'naive', or whatever.

Sod them. If they want to believe that then they will just continue to be in relationships where their partner is money orientated. That's fine by me because it leaves the genuine girls for the rest of us.

Amen rakers. well said

Moonrakers, you touched on some good points... But. If you ALREADY have enough money, then it is not an issue with most relationships. However, for someone who is USED to being wealthy it CAN be an issue if the alternative is poverty. Poverrty stricken people make do with what they have, but will take any opportunity that they can to climb out of squallor. The many discussions on thaivisa about how much is needed to raise a family in Thailand is a perfect example. The opinions on thaivisa come from opposite ends of the spectrum. When relationships occur between couples of the same ethnic and social background then the wealth of one or the other is seldom a factor. Poor Thais mixing with other poor Thais have the same expectations as their contemporaries. The same is true when upper middle class Thai mix with other upper middle class Thais. It only starts to go astray when someone wealthy starts a relationship with someone very poor. This is the situation in Thailand with the mixing of SOME wealthy foreigners and poor ladies from rural Thailand. Expectations get twisted. Not all foreign men are wealthy and that confuses the expectations of many Issan women.

There is no question that wealth and power are formost in many social structures of North America, but it's usually at the upper end of the social structure where it happens. If that wasn't the case then there wouldn't be the great decision of which university has the best reputation. Middle class North Americans seldom base wealth as a criteria when choosing a mate, but that doesn't mean it isn't part of the consideration. I've seen too many examples to believe otherwise.

Actually, the original question was asking for an objective overview. Think of roe deer and a large antler rack.

As for decrying one posters opinions by submitting one's own....classic.

"I have learned not to get involved in such discussions"..... not very well it seems. :)

So are you trying to suggest that ALL women are only interested in money?

I am not making a sweeping generalisation putting half of the population into one pigeon hole, whereas I am making an argument against those that do. Do you disagree?

Actually, this is why I mentioned before that it's like arguing with a bigot. Just a complete and utter miss of the point that I was making followed up with a straw man argument.

And as I mentioned before in my post, sod it!

Never mind Moonrakers, now you begin to grasp the Sisyphean task the women of this forum face. But, good on you for speaking your mind and I appreciate the fact that you did. thanks. :)

I had to look up "Sysiphian".

I noted this part of the explanation from Camus's essay......

"The struggle itself...is enough to fill a man's heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy."

If I was to take up that idea, I would have to conclude that, in a (perhaps) perverse way, although women bemoan the typical male attitude, it actually is part of their emotional wellbeing.

Generalising, of course.

;)

OOps. Perhaps I should not have held up that particular mirror.

:coffee1:

You can conclude all you want harcourt. Doesn't mean you know what you are talking about. :)

Now now SBK, just because young Harky fights with the boys in OTB, and likes rugby, doesn't mean to say she's not a girlie.

Wasn't me!!! But then....

Are we on top yet?

Only because you asked nicely and I have a bad knee................smile.gif

Mine wasn't a <deleted> moment. Rather a <deleted> moment. But then I realized its just another patronizingly ignorant "expert" and had a good giggle at it all.

Come on now! I wasn't being patronising, nor ignorant, nor expert....after looking up Sysiphus, and thinking about it in the context of how you used the word, I made a tongue in cheek observation around Camus's statement.

You women are very sensitive! Overly so, I would say if it was a <deleted> moment considering my words in the context they were made.

Oh well, never mind. It's one of life's challenges that men have to endure, I suppose.

Given the complete and utter crap that gets posted on this forum by men on an extremely regular basis, your attitude that we are "sensitive" merely goes to show that you don't have a clue.
