I need to install DeltaView document comparison software ot Word's Merge and Compare software. I tried Tukcom in Pattaya and the software sellers there had no idea what it is or what I was looking for (language was a problem in trying to describe what the software does). Does anyone know where I can purchase this software either in Pattaya (preferably) or in Bangkok? I expect to be in BKK later this week, and I can check out Pantip Plaza. Any help will be appreciated.

Buy it on-line or in Singapore. There are no distributors in Thailand.

Buying legit software in Thailand is next to impossible. Buy online.

I wonder whether WinMerge can do the same thing

WinMerge is for text files only as far as I have seen... I have used it now and then...

DeltaView seems to double up a lot of functions that MS Office and Open Office already have like comparison of documents and resolving conflicting changes.

Does anybody know the benefits of using DeltaView except for the pdf stuff?

Hmm just the price tags are a big turnoff...

Come to think of it... what's the point of comparing proprietary binary formatted documents? You can never check if the comparison make sense anyway.

For a law office this must be a complete show stopper....

I suppose I could convert a pdf to a text file and then use winmerge to compare

Yes at least you compare what comparable is... Formatting can alter the meaning of a text although the text in itself is the same. That's the reason I see a little danger in using the compare function on binary formats especially if they are full of unknown features.

For those who doesn't run Windows, I suggest "Meld"... more light weight than WinMerge.

Maybe things like LaTeX would make life easier when you write document together with others. Then you can compare and merge without any fears using WinMerge, Meld or any other diff tool... and together with some fancy distributed version control system like Git you are really difficult to beat...
