Groveling For "Greenies"

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

I used to think Thai Visa was superior in just about every way to other online Thai related fora. I see now the have adopted this sad feature of "groveling for greenies" so much in eveidence at Teak Door. I have to say the greenie thing is about the stupidest aspect of the Teak Door forum, but what's that say about Thai Visa that they should choose to emulate it? Give it a pass George. I think you're better than that, no?

The only redeeming thing about the whole repo thing, in my opinion, is the ability to send a RED along with an comment. The RED option creates plenty an opportunity for debate and argument on a drunken evening. George has even removed the red option. Boooooo.

I like you LR, always have done, but I have no idea what I just did trying to look for this greenie thing.

Kind of you to say and it is mutual. The thing I'm talking about is this "Reputation" button. One can be awarded "rep points" , they call them "greenies" over at Teak Door, by clicking on the lowere right hand corner of a post. You can view how many reputation points you have in your profile page and there's a tab at the top showing how you got them. It's just a really stupid idea. If you like what someone has to say you can say so in follow up post or send them a message.

I remember a guy a while ago on ThaiVisa who had a thing about profile views. At times he would even make a post with a disguised link that took you directly to his profile so that it would appear as though somebody else wanted a look.

What was all that about?

Got it ..... It's a bit lame isn't it..... whoo I got a greenie, it's a bit like being picked just before the fat kid for football..... if I like someone I will tell them so, you know, put a bit of effort into it,not just click a green dot.

That's the fat kid who was always last to get picked for football and made to run around without a shirt so that all the girls in domestic science (lovely term) knew what the consistency of blancmange should be like.

(edit..... can you tell I'm feeling better;) )

When I was a kid a greenie was a piece of snot. Sort of sums it up really.

( glad you're feeling better Thaddy )

Greenies are good for those with self-esteem issues. Reds are a definite no-no according to Dr. Spock.

What I wonder is how the posters who cried when some of their post count was deleted - that flooded the board with moans and whinges - feel about the greenie system. :whistling:

Teak Door has two excellent items that could be copied - it's cooking section and the daily sudoko / crossword / chess. The crossword is lame, but I do enjoy the sudoku

Ill take the greenies if they are transferable to brownie points (to be exchanged for real brownies from George :) )

Actually brownie points would be more appropriate :)

I love the irony that the first post of this thread has 5 reputation points, the most I've ever seen I think! :)

I think it's a good little feature anyway. Better to simply click the green + button (similar to the Facebook Like button, which no social site seems complete without these days) rather than taking up a whole post just to say "good post" or whatever. Having negative reputations would also be good, and it might reduce some of the flaming if people can express their disapproval by just clicking a red button instead of writing a load of abuse.

You may be right, but I'd like to think these respondants are being satirical .

BLATANT !!!!

( should be ashamed of yourself )

The raving loons tend to support each other. All the posters getting banned for hate speech would have more positive points than the kindest and most benign mods.

It's about being a wanke_r.

My profile says I don't have any of these "greenie" reputation thingies. Must be why my profile says I don't have any friends either.

When I posted on TD in it's early days it was mainly populated by banned TV people who spent most of their time spitting bile at this forum.

I went there (with one or two others) to give them back a little of the same. My aim was to accumulate as many reds as possible.

Try as I did, I couldn't get in the red. To my chagrin, I received many more greens than reds!

However, I do seem to have worked out the system here lately.

Raving Loons? Raving Loons?

Actually, the Repo thing over in TD is a hoot! There's some who have fled to SubZero for receiving too many Reds.

Well, that and they were basically non-hackers too...

Well You all really SUCK. I went thru the thread upto Mr Turd Toad and gave you all one green point ......and then I ran out, so err sorry Mr Turd Toad.

Anyway, as I was saying, you all really suck. xx

In the old days (just a few months ago) , you couldnt actually type the words Teak and Door on this forum, it would always get snipped the same way as a big f word would. Now it seems to be acceptable?

Formica

Never used to be able to say that in IKEA..........

Yeah the rep system is fully implemented now - so you can give greenies or reddies now :)
