The ANT

AND THE

GRASSHOPPER

This one is a little different ...

Two Different Versions ....

Two Different Morals

OL D VERSION

The ant works

hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper

thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the ant is warm

and well fed.

The grasshopper has

no food or shelter, so he

dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE OLD STORY:

Be responsible for yourself!

MODERN

VERSION

The ant works hard

in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house

and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant

is a fool and laughs and dances and plays t he summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper

calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be

allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

CBS, NBC , PBS, CNN,

and ABC show up to

provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper

next to a video of the ant

in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper

is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears

on Oprah

with the grasshopper

and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green...'

ACORN stages

a demonstration in front of the ant's

house where the news stations film the group singing, “We shall overcome.”

Then Rev. Jeremiah Wright

has the group kneel down to pray for the grasshopper's sake.

President Obama condemns the ant

and blames

President Bush, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the

Pope

for the grasshopper's

plight.

Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid

exclaim in an interview with Larry

King that the ant has

gotten rich off the back of the

grasshopper,

and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts

the Economic Equity &

Anti-Grasshopper Act

retroactive to the beginning of

the summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number

of green bugs and,

having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government Green Czar

and given to the grasshopper.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper

and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant's old house,

crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn't maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken

over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and peaceful, neighborhood.

The entire Nation collapses

bringing the rest

of the free world with it.

MORAL OF THE STORY:

Be careful how you vote in 2010.

UG, are you voting Republicrat or Democran?

The U.S. is in a shitload of trouble. It'll be of the utmost importance that we vote for the right party.:blink:

I usually vote for democrats and I voted for Obama, but I am really starting to regret that decision. :(

However you vote, we MUST get the Democratic majority out of the House and Senate. I'm beginning to think we should have a Constitutional Amendment that prohibits any political party from controlling both the Legislative and Executive branches.

The two-party system of dems/republicans is a sad joke as they are both highly corrupt as a whole. Although it is a very useful circus to distract the general populace. I'd vote out any politician who plays into the system of blaming the other party for all the ills of the country. These guys are destructive clowns. Why not have ideas stand on their own merits rather than based on which political party they happen to fall into? The party system is simply a method to consolidate power.

I pretty much agree with all that. I don't think Obama will stop pointing fingers at the Reps even though his party has had a Super Majority for 1.5 years.

I'd like to see term limits in Congress - and no more high pensions for life after serving 4 or 6 years either.

One of the major problems I see around election time is that whichever party loses seats the opposition believes that the voters voted FOR them. When in fact, the voters are more voting people OUT, and not voting the oppositon IN. In 2006, the Reps had shown they didn't belong in Congress and ended up losing both houses (yes, the Dems have been in control o Congress since Jan 2007). The Dems started crowing how the American people wanted the Dems in charge! Well, no, actually, they just voted the bums out because they sucked and the Dems happen to be the other party. This November, the Dems will likely be voted out and the Reps will start crowing how America wants THEIR policies. Again, NO, the voters just voted the bums out. If the Reps take control, before a decade passes, the Reps will be voted out again. It's just a cycle, and the cycle is, our politicians suck out the ass.

Well put, koheesti. Hopefully, hopefully, people are starting to see through the charade.

I don't think that term limits would be the solution, though. What if a politician was truly a great statesman? What I would think to be a good solution is to have politicians explicitly define their proposed agendas and their stances during campaigning. If they then renege on their campaign promises without showing da.mn good cause, or the core beliefs they promoted do an about face, then they would be forced to step down. In other words, lie and your out. Immediately. No waiting until the next election. Obama, for one, would be long gone by now. Another empty suit who made a whole lot of promises so he could get into office. Once in you can't get a politician out . . . and they're well aware of it.

This scientific break through has just been announced:

______________________________________________________

Pelosium:

A major research institution has just announced the discovery of the densest element yet known to science. The new element has been named Pelosium. Pelosium has one neutron, 12 assistant neutrons, 75 deputy neutrons, and 224 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 311.

These particles are held together by dark forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.

The symbol of Pelosium is PU.

Pelosium's mass actually increases over time, as morons randomly interact with various elements in the atmosphere and become assistant deputy neutrons within the Pelosium molecule, leading to the formation of isodopes.

This characteristic of moron-promotion leads some scientist to believe that Pelosium is formed whenever morons reach a certain quantity in concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as Critical Morass.

When catalyzed with money, Pelosium activates CNNadnausium, an element that radiates orders of magnitude more energy, albeit as incoherent noise, since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons as Pelosium.

Very good chuck. Well done and clever of you.

Well put, koheesti. Hopefully, hopefully, people are starting to see through the charade.

Another empty suit who made a whole lot of promises so he could get into office. Once in you can't get a politician out . . . and they're well aware of it.

Unfortunately, as some people begin to see through the charade, others are just getting taken in by it. Think of it like the Internet. Most of us probably know better than to forward all those silly chain emails or know not to download unknown files, or not to send money to some guy in Nigeria. But everyday, new users are joining the Internet community and they fall for this shit all the time. Will it ever end? Probably not, and don't count on the majority of people seeing through the political charade anytime soon either.

Term limits - OK, with term limits, for every great statesman that gets sent packing, so do 50 bad ones. Without term limits, just to keep that one great statesman, we gotta keep those 50 bad ones as well. Since theyu all get one vote, the great statemen are greatly out-numbered.

Campaign promises - If the voters weren't so foolish in the first place, politicians wouldn't be able to make these promises. Thankfully, our system is set up so that one man or woman cannot dictate how things will be. So how is it we expect them to fulfill their promises when even IF they were being honest about wanting to get it done, they can't do it by themselves anyway? Then there are issues that are a lot more complicated than they let on. Take Gitmo for example. One of the first things Obama did when in office was to sign an order to close it. Well, it just isn't that simple - as the genius from Harvard figued out. You can't just close the place without finding somewhere to put everybody. And releasing them to their home countries would just get a lot of them killed so Obama is stuck. He made a promise that he couldn't really keep - not because he was being dishonest, but because it was a lot more complicated than he knew. I say that because he wouldn't have signed an order that couldn't be carried out making him look foolish otherwise. That's just one famous example, from one politician. They practically all have have them if you look hard enough.

I found this on the Drudge Report today. You will NOT find it on the main stream media.

I wondered where our sitting President and his wife were and then remembered he is vacationing on the golf course and she has been vacationing in Spain.

Brings to mind the mindless North Korean patriots talked about in another thread.

BTW, chucky.....I gave you a sincere congratulations on a clever and amusing piece of writing.....and, having had ample opportunity, you have not denied it was yours.....but it turns out it's not yours at all!

I'm aghast.

Care to explain your dishonesty?

I haven't put harry harcourt on ignore yet, UG.

I rather enjoy his blathering from time to time. It is tedious, boring and nearly always inane, yet, rather entertaining in a perverted way.

In fact, if you think about it, he is now half-way to being a full "wit". B)

UG knows I have him on ignore yet he still replies to me. Rather silly.

What's even sillier, is that UG plainly does not ignore me, yet advises that it is sensible to do so!

If you are really "ignoring" me, why exactly do you keep replying to my posts even though you have sworn up and down not to?

Please add the source where you copy from Chuck.

:)

You girls are really having a problem with the post about Pelosium.

To set the record straight and to keep everybody from getting their knickers in a twist...IT IS A JOKE!!!

If some of you had more brains than a squid, you would have recognized it as such.

Forward any further comments to my attorney.

You geriatrics really have a problem with honesty. Of course it is a joke....and one that appeared to be penned by you, as praised by me. To sit there and not deny the praise is to accept the praise, which implies that indeed it was your work....which it wasn't.

If some of you had more brains than a squid's stomach parasite, you would have recognised the connection.

I think it would be more beneficial to forward further comments to your specialist geriatrics psychiatrist.

:whistling: If someone is not bright enough to realize that chuckd took their complement as being about posting a good joke - rather than chuckd having made the joke up himself - they should not advertise to the world what we all know already. Calling honest members "liars" on a regular basis is rather ironic considering the source. :whistling:

DNFTT

???

Something about your incontinance diaper not full?

At first I thought you had (mistakenly) posted some code that was intended for your nurse; Diaper Not Full. Tomorrow, Thanks.

Then I realised, your code may have something to do with trolls.

Why do you and koheesti always revert to ad hominem silliness whenever you are backed into a corner? Why not just concede your dishonesty or mistake for once?

And you STILL do not confess that it was not your work, and that you did not attribute it but instead brush it off as a joke!!!

chucky...does your nurse read these pages? Or are you STILL implying that I am a troll in an attempt to divert away from your blatant dishonesty?

As I've said to koheesti, if you think I am a troll, put me on "ignore".

I would be very happy not to have to read your ad hominem responses to the valid points that I make.

Until then....you have an allegation of dishonesty levelled at you to which you have not adequately responded......just like your previous lying which I pulled you up on, and to which you also obfuscated and distracted away from.......I take it as an admission, again.

Please have someone that can tell the difference point it out if you ever happen post one. Calling posters who actually have something worthwhile to say liars and senile does not really count. :bah:

Troll (Internet)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Do not feed the trolls" and its abbreviation "DNFTT" redirect here. For the Wikimedia essay, see "What is a troll?".

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[2] In addition to the offending poster, the noun troll can also refer to the provocative message itself, as in "that was an excellent troll you posted". While the term troll and its associated action trolling are primarily associated with Internet discourse, media attention in recent years has made such labels highly subjective, with trolling being used to describe intentionally provocative actions outside of an online context. For example, recent media accounts have used the term troll to describe "a person who defaces internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families."[3][4]

I say again...DNFTT
