A WOMAN driver performed a sex act on herself while overtaking lorries on the M6, a court heard yesterday.

Miranda Chapman, 43, pulled down her trousers and knickers to pleasure herself.

Trucker Jonathan Kitchen looked out of his cab and saw her naked below the waist as she slowly overtook his HGV in her Peugeot 307.

He was so shocked by the sight that he called police. A patrol pulled Chapman over a few miles further along the motorway.

Mr Kitchen was convinced she was deliberately going slowly, prosecutors told magistrates in Penrith, Cumbria. Mum-of-four Chapman, from Appleby-in-Westmorland, wept at the hearing after she admitted dangerous driving and outraging decency.

Defence lawyer Judith Birbeck said Chapman was "trying to make herself feel better" after being left "greatly distressed" by the news her mentally ill daughter was pregnant and her son was being deployed to Afghanistan.

Chapman, who had been returning home from a shopping trip, denied slowing down so that people could see her.

Ms Birbeck said: "As far as she was concerned she was in the privacy of her own car."

Magistrates imposed an interim driving ban until Chapman, a volunteer worker for a domestic abuse helpline, is sentenced next month.

What a shocker, that poor truck driver could possibly be scarred for life.

In my youth, whilst submitting a contract to a multi-national, I overheard a typing pool conversation. It started with "those bloody lights at Hoe St drive me crazy, they keep you so long." Lots of agreement. "I sometimes have a little fiddle waiting there." Lots of laughter. "Do you? I do that alot." Suddenly 3 or 4 different voices are regaling over when and how they play with themselves in the car. I was shocked....pleasantly. I was called a minute later and reluctantly left.
