Question About Changing Wheel Size

Featured Replies

Hi,Would anyone with experience of motorbikes be able to clarify something about changing wheel sizes,I have a honda click i with standard size wheels, and would like to up the size to 17 inch,my question is,will this make the bike roll on,or feel to glide along more freely,??and also will it make it lose a bit of bottom end torque,??,reason mainly for changing the wheels is they get rusty so quick so i thought i'd consider changing the size if i'm going to change the wheel rims for the type that don't rust.

Thanks to anyone that can help...

Engine produced torque remains the same but as you have increased the gearing ratio acceleration will be marginally slower & gauges will under read. Also brake efficiency will be marginally reduced plus unsprung weight will be increased due to larger rims & tyres, also be aware quality of aftermarket rims varies significantly with the majority being total monkey metal.

You may feel the bike rolls on more freely when you lift off throttle as engine braking effect will also be reduced.

Click is what 12 or 14 inch ?? Moving that to a 17 inch, you sure theres even physical room ?? Then what wheels at 17 fit the click pattern and the rear engine mount ??

Then what power gearing mods to handle that huge increase in load to the engine ??

You sure you have thought this through and know what your doing ??

The mods I have seen is them moving click wheels down a size, to what look like 12 inch wide wheels, possibly KSR sized ?? And it gives it a more motard look. Seen one with wide road tyres, another with like dual sport tyres.
