I was wondering if... teddysbuttons... we need to shorten that, definitely not to tb and tedsbutt doesn't sound right either... anyway, I was wondering if she had any prior experience here? A previous visit so to speak.

Yes, i have been to Chiang Rai, also Chiang Mai, Kanchanaburi, Bangkok, Cambodia and Laos, not much time spent at any of them, but enough to know it's where i want to be

Whats wrong with Needlepoint teddy . I do needlepoint :)

Gardening will be wonderful for you here.

Learning the Lingo !? which Lingo ? Geordie ? Scouse ? Double Dutch ?

Bourbon Indeed !? ....... Do you play bridge ? .

If you want a good starter Bike I have a Phantom I need to sell when I get round to it .

I bet you'll be having brunch at the Meridian in no time ;)

Chiang Rai's a good choice Teddy. I see the ladies are a bit quiet but they'll contribute something I'm sure.

Hi Jubby

Bourbon Indeed !? ....... Do you play bridge ? No, but I can learn, that's the point of the exercise, it's my time to do what I want. I really loved Chiang Rai, not BIG like Bangkok. Touristy, but not a rat race like Chiang Mai.

I'd like to have a smattering at least of Thai, but lets face it, I'll have the time to learn more than that lol

Gardening will be wonderful for you here. I haven't got a green thumb, but i love orchids, so looking forward to a green house.

Lmao, i really couldn't see me on a starter bike or any bike at all, I'm not there to maime people biggrin.gif

Whats wrong with Needlepoint teddy . I do needlepoint :) It's called patience or lack of lol more to the point.

Chiang Rai's a good choice Teddy. I see the ladies are a bit quiet but they'll contribute something I'm sure. A couple of Ladies got in contact in private chat, very helpful indeed. Plus kandahar has been very helpful.

Merridian ?? nah did Dusit Island, wasn't impressed.

Well thats All good Teddy.

Glad to hear about the Ladies.

Khandahars useful, but he ain't no 'Pommie Barsteward ' unfortunately. But he got dealt his cards, I guess he's got to live with em :D

jubby, I have great cards and no complaints about them. I know you envy my cards. Now, if she's a Pom, living in Oz, then things are worse than I originally thought. Poor thing. Two strikes before she even arrives. We will get her sorted out though. VF and I love a challenge.

What makes you think she is coming here to study Limbo? Or is this a typo?

Before you convince teddy to start playing bridge, you might make her aware of the risks of playing cards in this country.

teddy, check in with my wife when you arrive. She can probably get you a discount on a hotel, depending on which one you stay in. She is on the forum as woraphat. She has some pretty good connections here, as do some of the older expat forum members.

Okay guys. I am not touching that Limbo comment. Be careful.

teddy, sorry, but VF and I don't bite. It is more of as therapy approach. You can see how well we have have done with some of the other members. jubby is almost cured. bifftastic has a few more session to go but is making headway. Garry is a lost cause. And if you read the threads, you can see that Harrry thinks hoes come in pairs. We are certainly failing him. But give us a couple of more years.

Teddy, welcome to the forum, I hope your proposed move goes well. I'm sure those you've already contacted will be a great help. It's a wonderful place and I hope I will be following in your footsteps very soon. I'm currently stuck in London, apparently I'm making headway  not sure if that's true.

I do know that the people here are very helpful and welcoming so I'm sure you'll be fine.

I've been a bit quiet in the forum as of late, oncoming winter in the UK is kind of dampening my spirits somewhat, on of the things that keeps me going is knowing I'll be back in Thailand next year.

Hopefully by then you'll be well and truly settled into your new home.

All the best,

Biff

Teddy, welcome!

My suggestion is just take the leap of faith. You'll be right as rain in Chiang Rai. Great town, wonderful friendly people.

I live in the horrible evil big city to the south known as Chiang Mai. I keep threatening to move to CR, but it hasn't happened yet. But it will, eventually.

I was 54 when I just one day decided to sell everything I had in the US, cash out, and move to Thailand.

That was 4 years ago, and it was one of the better decisions I've made in life. I had visited Thailand previously, dating back to the mid 1970's, so I had a good idea what it would be like.

Good luck to you, and welcome to the forum. :)

So you've not been put off by the dribbling then? There are some who are not too keen on dribble but obviously you're not one of them, CR will be a better place when there are more bourbon-drinking pommie sheila's like you that live here!
