Phuket To Penang

Featured Replies

Can anyone advise on connections between Phuket and Penang - preferably train - for a visa run

Seonai

I did it three months ago. I ended up taking a bus to Had Yai (6 hours) and then a minibus to Penang (2.5 hours).

I wanted to fly but there are no direct flights and the extra time and cost of changing at KL or Bangkok made it prohibitive.

A better option is to fly to Had Yai and get the minibus from there. When I went Phuket Air were grounded and there were no flights between Phuket and Had Yai but they are flying now.

I haven't tried the train but you can catch it at Surat Thani or Had Yai to Butterworth in Malaysai and from there you can get a bus to Penang.
