Hiya all

Getting a bit pished off with being alone and I have started a new contract in the UK which will give me by the time I am back four months wage slips and bank statements with wages going in.

I am worried that 4 months work will not be enough to show I can support, however it is a permanent contract.

Is that enough to apply for settlement visa?

I knew all that lazing around in Thailand would come to no good! lol :o

Thanks :D

Hi Lopburiguy,

Just for clarity, do you mean by the time you go back to Thailand to apply for the Settlement Visa you will only have 4 months wage slips? If so, 2 things could happen.

One, you will apply and then wait for the interview date, this could take several months to happen, in which case you can post any further wage slips to the wife and then you should have enough.

Two, like bang did the other week, he applied and his Mrs got her "short interview" within a week or so. This would leave you a bit short. Scouse will probably tell you the best way to approach this but i would imagine a letter from your company guaranteeing your employment would be OK.

Have you got any savings, house or other assets? If so this would also help. As the main thing is to prove to the ECO that you can support your wife.

All the best

So in relation to what you said Bo, can you take the Documents to the interview after handing in the application form, or is it more beneficial to hand them all in at the same time. Thus no interview maybe needed.

Thanks for your reply. :o

Lopburiguy,

Firstly, supply as many payslips as you can with a covering letter explaining why you are unable to supply the full six months. Include your contract of employment or a letter from your employer confirming that the position is permanent and your salary.

Secondly, a short interview is not guaranteed, but you will only get one if all supporting documents are submitted with the initial application and those documents satisfy the ECO that all the criteria is met and so s/he is "minded to grant" the visa. Therefore it is beneficial to submit all the documents at the same time as the initial application. Remember, not getting a short interview does not mean there is anything wrong with the application, merely that the ECO feels some aspects need further clarification.

GU22, has eloquently answered your questions, above. :D

Thanks GU22 for your reply.

It seems more beneficial to have 6 months with the application. However if I supply 4 months payslips and 6 months bank statements would this be ok. Or do I still have to explain why I only have 4 months pay slips?

I would explain that I started work on (date) so can only supply payslips from that date. Your employment contract or letter from your employer will confirm this.

Considering what documents to supply is always tricky, as it is obvious they are not going to look at everything. I work on the principal that it is better to have something they don't want than not have something they do!

Yeah I get that logic...Thanks GU22

Hi lopburiguy, I would listen to GU22 advice. When I applied for the missus visa I had not worked for 3 months prior as I had been in Thailand. I also had no savings at all, infact was in debt! I just made sure I pointed all this out in my sponsorship letter. Especially the fact that I would be saving the money that I save to come to Thailand for 6 months at a time. Hope this helps!

Yeah I always listen to GU22, I think I have to run everything past the Big players as they have pointed out sometimes what I would never have imagined!

So Bang, you only worked in the UK 3 months then you applied for your visa? Did they question this status?

Just out of curiousity, how the ###### did you do it in two weeks! Backhanders lol :D

Thanks for the replys :o

Firstly no backhanders! Just a well prepared folder of supporting evidence.

And I think you misunderstood me. I was living in Thailand for 3 months before I applyied for the wife's visa. But I was working before that in the Uk, and I showed 6 months wage slips and had a short but to the point letter from my employee. Hope this helps...

Just to add to this topic I recieved an email from the UK Embassy Bangkok stating:

a. Wage/salary slips for the last three months (to show that you have a regular income adequate to provide the level of support required).

So does that mean this is sufficeint OR do they want 6 months wage slips as earlier discussed?

Thanks all. :o

3 months' worth of wage slips should be OK. They just want to see that you have a regular income.

Scouse.

Thanks Scouse,

Get back in the LOS a bit quicker. UK winters coming, can feel it in the air!

i'm a manager for a small company (just me and the boss), i don't get a pay slip. I've been in this job for 2 1/2 years. Will this cause problems when my GF is applying for visa????

Not necessarily. I presume your salary is paid into a bank, in which case it will show on your bank statements. Failing that, your boss can provide a letter detailing for how long you've worked for him and your gross annual income.
