TOT contribution to undersea cable approved

The TOT board recently approved the state agency's plan to join in a project to build an Asian submarine cable link to cater to the fast growth of bandwidth demand in Thailand.

TOT will contribute US$40 million (Bt1.2 billion) to the project, which will boost its capacity to provide international Internet bandwidth. Construction of the network, which has a lifespan of 20-25 years, will be completed within two years. Business development eservice goes nationwide.

Maybe they should start using FLAG segment FEA first?

No need for another cable if they don't use the ones that are already here.

more cables = a good thing

I believe the last one that opened was partially funded by CAT. So this one goes to TOT.

TOT just needs to buy more bandwidth which is already available from other undersea, up-and-operating cables. No need to wait. But I expect TOT is probably getting some good deal by providing some upfront funding money...plus, now can TOT can advertise they got tons of bandwidth on the way when advertising their internet packages, except that part about "...on the way..." will be advertised as practically here already.

TOT, just go buy some more international bandwidth today from current undersea cables.
