Mcdonalds Comes To Chiang Rai

Featured Replies

I did it last night, my first try of SK patties.

No buns, just toasted sliced bread, bacon, plenty of cooked onions, cheddar cheese, a little chilli sauce and lots of lettuce.

And....................................???

And.........................................???? NO MUSTARD :bah:

Mustard. The MOST important condiment out there. Asylums are full of people who don't like it. Others just waiting to get in.

Any MUSTARD, English, French, any, but mustard IS the final topping. :)

Hard to get decent mustard here and it goes off very easily for some reason.

I tried the Keanes English in powder form, you mix it yourself as needed, but that goes off as well.

I couldn't be bothered with the wishywashy varieties, French, American, German... they're definitely not for real men. :)

If need to pre-mix mustard and want to store it, then I can suggest to use anything from old resealable honey squeeze bottles to old mustard bottles. Mix enough to fill them up (semi air tight) and place them in the fridge. This is my get out of jail free card where I work in the Middle East, when produce is not easily available. my 2 cents

I bought English Mustard in a jar, made by Oaklane in Tesco's, they just started stocking it. :)

My problem is I don't use enough of it, I like my sausages etc just lightly salted to enhance the natural taste.

Poor quality processed meats like traditional hotdogs are virtually tasteless anyway and therefore vastly improved by mustard and ketchup type condiments.

I never eat at the fast food places in the states but a for sure feeling that whenever I am in Chiangrai, I will stop there. As mentioned before love the big breakfast and used to get one every Friday and take it to work to eat. Been more than 3 years since i retired and non since. Someone is going to be very rich with that one and only franchise there. Need a Wendy's now for some competition along with a Pizza Hut. :D:D:D

Have not been here in 2 years and the 1st thing I have noticed were the women, the young ones whose legs have a lot more meat, definition to them. Before, kinds thin, now, more developed legs, and very nice. Happened in Japan also as the fast food joints arrived and they were eating better beef. :jap:

The McD's banner is hanging on the buiding closest to the super highway facing south according to Ms Taco.

Happy Micky Dee daze ahead.

Hope they will have a Sizzler Steak and Salad restaurant also in the new mall.

I bought the last big jar (170gr)of Colemans English MUSTARD for 70 bht (bargain) Aye said she will be getting more in along with Branston Pickle maybe this week . I also noticed that they have some Stilton Cheese , thats a real find. I had to buy some of that , it the king of Cheese , a little bit expensive, I dont know how much per gram as I bought a big chunk.

You can take the wee wee if you want.

I think it's great news. I love a bit of Branston.

I had a McD's in Denmark many years ago , it was quite different from anywhere else. What they gave you there was fried dried onions to put on it and many different types of mustard's and sauces , not just tomato or chilli as you get here . Anyone have any similar experiences in other countries ?

Yeah. The Arab world sucks at doing McDonald's. The one consistent thing I can find is the regular cheeseburgers. But most of the rest of it is Arab style stuff that I don't care for.

i've just been reading the newsletter bit of www.chiangraitourist.com/ Apparently Central is 90% complete. They will have over 200 stores including Robinsons, Tops, something called B2S etc a foodcourt, cinema and a bazaar with 50 kiosks and 42 take away stalls. Weather proof surroundings -and -most importantly for my family - accessibility!!! I'll be able to take one person in their wheelchair. They'll be able to do their own shopping much more easily. Chiang Rai is a great place to live, but this help will open up socialising opportunities for some of the less able members of the community

All good to me. I'm a Maccas junkey and I hope Starbucks shows as well plus a Cineplex where a westerner can go to and not get treated like a POS eg: Big C cinema

May 2020

Was just asked for a 20% extra charge for asking for extra pickles on a burger

Refused to pay and left the order

Won't be going back any time soon
