Reading some of the posts on the internet and seeing some of the less than realistic positions being maintained by very vocal posters I often wondered if their was something more sinister behind for what was taking place. Maybe this answers my question.

The need to protect the internet from 'astroturfing' grows ever more urgent Every month more evidence piles up, suggesting that online comment threads and forums are being hijacked by people who aren't what they seem.

The anonymity of the web gives companies and governments golden opportunities to run astroturf operations: fake grassroots campaigns that create the impression that large numbers of people are demanding or opposing particular policies. This deception is most likely to occur where the interests of companies or governments come into conflict with the interests of the public.

Sure this is happening here. It is especially noticeable when the red shirts are in mobilization mode. Anyone who thinks this isn't going on here is very, very naive.

What has this got to do with Thailand? I understand it is vaguely related, but barely.
