My local driving office won't issueInt permit told Bangkok or C Mai

Last time I tried at big Chatuchak office

505 baht

fotos passport pages as usual

Letter with address frm Immigration (my 5 yr thai licence issued by then not considered proof.)

Wonderful circullllllllar irony as Immigration usd drivng licence as basis for the letter

Very harridan official said my letter from lcaal immigration a month old was too OLD! needs be within 30 days

I am sure a male officer would have succombed to a 100 pipers or such but not Madame.

Any up to date advice from those who have recntly suceeded,also where in C Mai

I know the Land Transport HQ at Morchit can but C Mai much closer

CR's are only good for 30 days and you must have a rental contract, electric bill, land line ,Cable TV or Truevision bill in your name with address for the CR.. DL has never been excepted on normal circumstances as proof of address. Thais use there blue house book. Also the IDP by law is only valid for one year.

All bills in wifes name I think andas I adon't have Thai employer does this mean I cannot drive into Malaysia?

Will Malays accept a Translation authorised here or there?

Technically ASEAN driving licences are valid in all the countries,

but I am not sure what a Malaysian policeman would make of a Thai licence.

This idea that documents become mot a'yu (out of date) is a strange Thai concept. :annoyed:

Thai licenses which are in Thai and English are perfectly valid in Malaysia. No need for an international license.
