happy, but i did read this

WikiLeaks revealed last week that the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, had told his US interrogators that Al-Qaeda has hidden a nuclear bomb in Europe which would unleash a "nuclear hellstorm" if Osama was ever captured.

so if one person's death means 1,000's killed, then its not good

If they had it, they would use it anyway, so there is no reason to not be happy that this mass murderer is burning in hell. :)

Back in 1942, we shouldn't have fought the Japanese in Guadacanal because they would retaliate. Or why the heck did we go after the Nazis in Europe? Wouldn't they just retaliate?

If al Qaeda really does have a nuke someplace, anyone who thinks we should do anything they want to keep them from using it then they themselves can start by converting to Islam. It's not like Obama and other world leaders can simply put out a statement saying, Please don't use your nuke. We promise to stop hunting for Osama". No one can believe for one millisecond that al Qaeda and allies would just quit right there.

I won\t participate in the poll because the options are too limited....and some are outright ridiculous.

I never expected you to take part.I guess I should have included an option that says "Allahu Akhbar!!"*. :)

* I hope this spelling is acceptable?

Feel free to write out your own answer if the ones I gave are "too limited".

:) Laugh all you like. Both of you.

What is truly funny is your narow-minded and unimaginative, closed-minded and way misguided, impression of my attitudes to many topics.

Yet, you won't answer a simple question or take the opportunity to write here how you felt. If anyone is to blame for others not understanding your "attitudes to many topics" it is you and only you.

I was slightly disappointed with the options, but I did vote. I can't say that I was happy....maybe relieved. (Certainly not unhappy). When I first heard the news, I can't say I had any particular emotion other than surprise.

I am relieved that they got him. It's a big blow for AQ, but only time will tell who replaces him or what direction extremist terrorism will go.

I am glad it was under Obama and not GW Bush. I am afraid he would have gloated too much and rubbed salt in the Islamic wounds---and God forbid, I couldn't bear another "Mission Accomplished".

Oh and by the way, you ask for someone's opinion, then please don't flame them for what they post.

Indifferent. Didn't care then, don't care today.

bin-Laden deserved to be killed. period! publishing that his "funeral" was (more or less) according to islamic rites/customs was (whether true or false) a wise decision.

what i find utmost ridiculous are the 'fiestas' in some areas and most ridiculous i consider the statement

"the world is now a safer place... ahmm... let's raise the terrorism/security threat level a notch."

I didn't know that I had.

I have an idea, if someone reading this doesn't want to answer or give an opinion, they can just not post at all here an move on. There are threads that I have no interest in and I don't still post trolling the topic.

I agree. What I saw outisde the White House looked like younger people who just finished watching the NHL playoff game a few blocks away (The Washington Capitals lost in OT). THAT'S why they were around there so late on a Sunday night. In other words, I think they were already out partying when they heard the news.

I voted 'happy, the bastard deserved it'.

Can I vote more than once?

You can vote for multiple options. I chose three myself.

...seems to be threads of obsession here in OTB regarding bin Laden, yes? Does this comes instinctively or was such consciousness planted by the Establishment Corporate Media Industrial Complex? They know how easy are to be manipulated......

You posted a bin Laden thread on April 29th. That was before he became the biggest news story on the planet (wedding? what wedding?). Why did you do it?

The biggest news story on the planet? In all of history? Why is this so......? Because they repeat it often enough.

Enough stimulation and attention to anything makes it so.

"In all of history"? What are you going on about? It was front page news everywhere on the planet on Monday. It was all over the TV and Internet news. It has even been all over this forum. It was by far the biggest news on the planet. Sorry if that upsets you.

I think maybe you thought you were going to educate everyone again how brainwashed we are by big, corporate, neo-con, Euro-centric media by talking so much about bin Laden BUT you forgot that you actually are the one who started it. Whoops. That's the thing about being brainwashed - you aren't even aware it has happened to you. :)

So what made you start the first thread about bin Laden?

Would have voted if there was a flat..."The guy has been dead for years".

Cant sat this new story made me happy or sad as it is a non-event

Actually in some way I am sure it did not make me happy to see another fairy tale fabrication by my elected officials who represent our country.

But.......& this is likely a non starter.....If they did this as a face saving move/excuse to pull out of the dollar & life wasting invasion/occupations then that would be fine with me.

Somehow I do not think that is the case as the military industrial complex is the only promised jobs Obama can deliver on.

As the FED Reserve is called the lender of last resort...So now the Military is the employer of last resort in the USA

This has been a troll thread from the start. The options in the poll disparage anyone who has a different opinion to you.

Maybe he did not think that anyone would feel unhappy about the death of a mass murderer.

With all the conflicting statements coming out of the White House (he was armed and shooting when he was killed / No he wasn't - he hid behind a woman / No he didn't - and so on) I would like to see an unretouched video of the event. But that is most unlikely.

This now seems more like the execution without trial of an unproven victim.

I am now waiting for the Pakistani government to issue a statement along the lines of

Yes, this was a government safe house. Yes we were detaining a man there and had guards on the premises. No, the man was not ObL - it was another Al Qaeda operative who had been giving us valuable information. He was younger than ObL - as can be seen from the photos issued by the US government. We were about to share all his debrief with the Americans, but now they have invaded our territory and assassinated our witness, we cannot verify his statements. The Americans have not killed ObL.

And how will the Americans disprove such statements? By producing the DNA of ObL's dead sister and saying it is a match to this sample? Where did this sample come from? By showing the photos? They show a man with a dark beard. ObL's beard is totally grey now. He's getting old, living in the mountains of Waziristan.

It's all a gigantic cock-up, put out to secure Obama bin Lyin' the Presidency for the next four years.

OK, then you are free to write your opinion here.

It amazes me that we have a group of people here who have an opinion on everything yet some will avoid giving their opinion on one something like the death of a man like Osama. One of our resident conspiracy theorists might wonder what they are afraid of.

There are so many things about it that don't add to me that I would agree with you. I understand them not wanting to give all the info but they should at least make sure that what they do tell us makes sense. I wouldn't doubt it that if really were UBL, then he was captured alive and this is all just to keep his allies from launching attacks to force us to release him.

I thought it rather uncanny. Perhaps it was subconscious prescience on Zaa's part.

Possible.

It was great timing. Perhaps he felt a disturbance in the force?
