I Need Branston Pickle!

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know where I can locate Branston Pickle in Phuket? It is a very urgent matter as I have some lovely cheddar cheese that needs a good coating of the brown stuff.

Also does anyone know where to find proper cadburys chocolate? ie. not the crap that is made in Singapore/Malaysia and filled with wax but the good stuff made in brummieland with milk and cream.

Are there any kind of UK food import shops on the island?

You can buy Branston pickle at the Patong Deli supermarket in Patong, or, at Sin & Lee on Thalang Rd in Phuket City. Be prepared to pay approximately 320 Baht a jar though. Sin & Lee is cheapest.

Pickle covered.

Chocolate is tougher, you can get rowntree items (Twix's and Kit Kat's) from 7-11. Cadbury's is harder, may I suggest a methodene-y substitute? Try 'Dove' choccy bars, very much like a galaxy and guaranteed no rubber texture - or your money back!

Let me know if you find a good choccy alternative...

i do miss my chocolate!

Me too. Twixes tastes similar to the real thing and Mars Bars are ok. The malteasers do not cut it though. Ferrero Rocher taste the same. Hersheys is crap (ie it tastes the same). Some of the thai chocalate bars are at least cheap like the 2 baht chocolate wafer.

I do like the eclairs they sell at Big C supermarket near the checkout. Only 9 baht and they are yummy.

There was a thread where people convinced BambinA to try Marmite. She bought some in BKK and posted a photo of it. It was in a red jar and did not look like the real stuff. Personally, if it ain't in the proper jar, I won't buy it. Anyway, as I said, next time I go by, I'll take a look.

Can't believe you didn't know about the Branston pickle at the Patong Deli......

Still just got 2 BIG marmite jars.. Safe for now..

Have been told that Marmite is now available at TOPS in Central Festival.

Do tell where, can't find it and getting deparate

They need to make that damned store bigger! I got excited when they started advertising their Waitrose range but then I saw half of it was RICE! Who in hte ###### wants to eat rice imported from india, packaged in England then sent back round the world!

WE WANT JAFFA CAKES, PICKLE AND CADBURYS - NOT RICE!

For all the Chocoholics out there, have you tried the Ritter chocolate? Its originally from Germany, several different varieties, fairly expensive but taste good.

Jaffa Cakes:- I found a similar type on sale in Carrefour, don't know if you have one in Phuket, but if you do look out for them, they tasted very good.

There are hand-made chocolates available in Chalong. Have heard they are delicious. In that business complex on Chao Fah East road, just past Flinstone bakery on the left as you go towards Phuket City.

W-H-A-T !!! :D:D:o:D:D

It could be that Marmite that comes in the wrong type of jar though. Will have to check it out next time I'm up that way.

I got some in bkk - Foodland - and it looked right, but after I tasted it, I checked the label and it was made in some foreign place - can't remember where, Malaysia or Singapore or somewhere. :D

Dam.n you LivinLOS! I haven't thought about crumpets in years.

Now I'm lusting for one. Toasted with lashings of butter spread on the holey side (drool, drool).
