Kota Baru vs. Penang

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just curious by more experienced visa run folks which of these two consulates would be the best for a non-imm B run. Any thoughts or experiences are appreciated.

David

Depends on. What type of supporting documents from the Thai company do you have?

Hi,

It will probably just be a letter on company letterhead stating their intention to hire me. Its a major hospital and I don't think they will let the other information go.

A nice letter from a major Thai hopsital would do fine everywhere, Penang or Kota Baru. Try to ask them for a copy of company registration as well and attach to your application (they love paper!)

Where you go is up to your travel prefrences basically. I would fly to Penang, less hassle with taxi and border crossings. But that's just my five baht.

Thanks for your time and input. I'll basically wiegh costs and go from there.

Regards,

David

If costs are a concern take the train to Butterworth or just fly or bus to Hat Yai and take a van or share taxi from there.  Air schedule to Penang is not good for visa runs and is not a discounted run.

Would recommend Penang as it seems to be 'the' preferred consulate by Thai Immigration for people to get non-immigrant visas if not done in their home country.
