DON MUANG TOLLWAY WILL REVERSE TO ITS ORIGINAL FARES STARTING OCTOBER 18

The Don Muang Tollway Plc. is preparing to return to its normal fee collection rate, at between 30-40 baht, on October 18th (Tuesday).

Don Muang Tollway's President Sombat Panitcheewa (สมบัติ พานิชชีวะ) yesterday had a meeting with Transport Minister Phongsak Raktaphongphaisarn (พงษ์ศักดิ์ รักตพงศ์ไพศาล) to find the guidelines for addressing the tollway problem.

Mr. Sombat said the negotiation has not yet yielded conclusion, and the company needs to reverse to collecting the original fees for the Dindaeng-Don Muang (ดินแดง - ดอนเมือง) section, which starts at 30 baht and tops at 43 baht.

The President also said that Don Muang Tollway will make proposals to have the state sector find assistance measures for it once again, both in raising the toll fees and extension of the concession period, in order to compensate for the losses incurred over the previous period due to state projects.

Mr. Chaisawad Kittiphornphaiboon (ชัยสวัสดิ์ กิตติพรไพบูลย์), the Director-General of the Highways Department and the Chairperson of the committee responsible for finding solutions to the Don Muang Tollway problem, said the Transport Minister has assigned responsible agencies to review the problem between shareholders and the issues they wanted the state to assist in, and present their findings to him.
