sbk Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Gotta have lights: tail lights, brake lights. My husband found, when he towed his boat from BKK to here about 6 years ago, that the lights only mattered if you didn't mind stopping at every checkpoint. 50 baht was the going rate for the blind eye back then. His trailer hitch looked like a pretty standard ball hitch to me. And apparently, that didn't cost him any extra so I guess it was ok Rooo must have lots of money for the gas to run his new boat tho! My husband is considering selling his speedboat because the cost of running it is too high.
Hans Lankari Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 Towing is an interesting issue on what I would like to find out more info. In Europe all kinds of trailers are very common to make small and big transport using your family-saloon instead of buying a pick-up truck. But here in Thailand I have very rarely seen any decent trailers except the boat hirers using their VERY home-made "constructions". Are the trailers required to be registered as in Europe (if you intend to exceed the speed of 60 km/h)? I have some links to people who might know but just tried here first. I have never ever seen here a licence-plate on a trailer of any kind.
astral Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Technically trailers are supposed to be registered seperately, but the Dept of Transport does not issue licence plates............. I had a trailer for my son's go kart, with lights etc and never had a problem.
