The last 4 days have been very hazy in Patong. Lots of burning of rubish. I live in the hills of N. Patong and I am also smelling plastic burning.

Previous blogs on the Phuket Gazette about burning rubish had comments from the Police that basically said, "come make a report and we will talk to them".

My comment is, if something that is illegal and is easily visable, why do you need to make a report?

Any comments?

A few years back we had a problem with burning rubbish at the end of Nanai 2 in Patong. Wife called the Tesiban to make a complaint. Sure a gov officer turned up after many days but no action at all was taken. Waste of time.

I have complained to neigbours about burning and except for one who has done it to specifically annoy me, it stops. I've even had police come and instruct them to stop, they finally moved away.

You have to be firm, and not yell but indignant insistence does work. I refuse to breathe noxious fumes no matter where I live.

The smoke one day last week was from Indonesia, s and I hope isn't indicative of it spreading this far north in the future.

Indonesia is still burning rainforest off with impunity.
