Gadaffi Killed

Featured Replies

They are reporting that he was killed in combat in his hometown. He is luckier than Saddham was.

Don't think all the details are confirmed yet.

I saw unconfirmed reports that he was seriously wounded, but captured alive, then died from his wounds.

A BBC reporter claims to have talked to a rebel fighter who was supposedly involved in the capture. Gadaffi reportedly said, "Don't shoot, don't shoot" as he was captured.

He was supposedly wounded in the legs and also had a head wound at that time.

But so far, there is no confirmation yet.

Maybe, co-incidentally, maybe not, but Nato planes apparently attacked two Libyan Army vehicles trying to leave Sirte early today (Libyan time).

Not sure if there's any connection between the two events or not.

There are also uncomfirmed reports that the former libyan Minister of Defence was killed in Sirte today.

Again no confirmation of any connection between these alledged events.

not to sure if he is alive here, but they appear to be kicking him

Killed? Murdered, more like.

And now the bunch of opportunists comprising the rebel forces can get Chinese backing to put the oilfields back into production, sell everything to China with no questions asked.

And promote Islamic extremism across the North African territories.

Egypt and Algeria will happily go along with that agenda.

There are videos in which you can see that he was alive when they started beating him.

Another one of the great bogeymen of the 20th century gone.

I suppose Mugabwe will be next; old age, if not fate, is rapidly catching up with him.

Assad will be next. Get ready for the Great Caliphate. :whistling:

According to several arab-language papers Gaddafi was caught alive, slightly wounded, shot a couple more times, kicked, beaten and sexually abused (don't know how) until he died.

Not a nice end.

The British press are making much of the fact that he is to be buried in an unmarked grave - but this is traditional practice in many Muslim countries - certainly for a lot of Libyans.

Most of the population of Libya have known no other form of government. This is going to get interesting, but I have strong doubts that the West will be pleased with the eventual outcome - I forsee a strong religious revival, suppressed while MG was in power. And a possible return to the two states of Cyrenaica and Tripolitania, as it was before WWII.

One would hardly condone the treatment meted out to Gaddafi, but it's the sort of thing which is liable to happen to dictators when they get caught. I shan't shed many tears for him.

I know burial in an unmarked grave is the norm... but so is the establishment of shrines for holy men or respected persons (which I suppose G. was to some).

Your last para, I agree (without ever having been to North Africa).

It's the Mussolini Principle.

If you're an ex-dictator on the run keep away from civilian militia.

You heard it here first - in October last year.

Now the two halves appear to have split into a federal partnership.
