There's an article in today's Times about HM the Queen (the UK one). She was giving an audience to a goverment minister who'd left her mobile on. When it rang the Queen said "Do answer it dear, it might be somebody important".

No respect these serfs nowadays....I bet it was one of the up and coming council house Tories as well....

I think she's marvellous, my mother is about the same age and I'd hate to see her with the sort of workload the Queen gets through in a year.

But then, she probably gets better health care...

Poor old girl, soldiering on at 85 at a crushingly boring job, being pleasant to all sorts of people she never wanted to see in the first place. I know it would be nice to have all the perks (but wouldn't they pall too?), but she must long sometimes to wander out for a bit of shopping without everybody recognising her (and be able to handle money for a change!). I'm amazed that she does keep a sense of humour (not like some queens I know, Endure; no, not you... other queens).
