Hi All,

I have just returned home from Big C and I noticed my rear license plate has fallen off/been removed. Does anyone know the process for getting a replacement? Are there shops where I can show them the blue book and they make one up like in the UK or is there (as I am suspecting) a load of grief involved just like everything else in Thailand that should be simple?

Thanks.

go to the same place you got your original plates pay a few hundred baht wait 6 weeks go back and pick up your plate.

If the police stop you show them your receipt

No grief, and it is simple.

Go to your local police station, tell them what happened and get two copies of the police report. Go to your DLT, explain what has happened, give them the police report, pay the fee for replacement, and they will tell you when to go back. Keep the receipt (and the second copy of the police report) and show them to the police if stopped (technically you only need the receipt, as bl said, but having the police report can make things easier).

yep, start with police

and at DLT choose option as above

or

apply for new plates at 1200 baht, get them 3 minutes later, you now have new number for your vehicle and its stamped at books front page, page 4 and page 18, and not at the risk of having same number as the guy who stole your plate B)

If your lucky and the Office is quiet, they did mine while i waited. Just glanced at the Police Note. Must be in your original Province though. Stunned me it was so simple.

Dunno, but a plate without the Thai logo stamped in it is a forgery, it is not legal, so up to you...????

Guy at my old work said he could sort me and sure enough the "fake" plate came with the Embossed logo a week later Bt.500.
